Tap at the brewpub with ECBT crew. Cola brown color with tan head. Nose has toasted marshmallow and roasted malt characteristics. Taste has a little bit of a chocolate malt/milk feel. Subtle smoke notes. Mouthfeel is relatively thin. Maybe some mild nutty traits with roasted malt continuing throughout consumption. Actually better than expected. Nice to meet you, Mr. Black. on tap at the source, arguably the best schwarzbier out there. Light roast, light body, very high drinkability. Touch of sweetness. j12601 (12976) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAY 31, 2010
On tap at American Flatbread. Pours a deep brown to black with a medium sized beige head. Roast all over, a touch of plastic hiding behind it. A bit on the thin side, but with such a low ABV that’s probably to be expected. Nice roast character carries through before a slow roast bitterness. Tasty. Aroma : Caramel, roasted malt, light raisins. Very light nose overall. Light hints of smoke. A bit grainy and nutty. Nice maltiness
Taste : Nice caramel, lots of raisins and a bit of liquorice. Little hint of smoke. Taste rather strong compared to nose.
Overall : Light body, drinkable and very refreshing.

Saveur: Goût de céréales torréfiées avec une pointe de chocolat. Courte durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement crémeuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût légèrement chocolaté. (Rating #1848)

2013-04-28. Very dark brown black body, small foamy tan head. Modest aroma, dry roast. Hints at fruit? Flavour is similar, modest dry roast, fairly clean, dilute dark malt. Feels a but too light overall. Average to light bodied palate, carbonation suits it. Less fruity and a touch less roast but otherwise fairly similar to the porter. Decent but just okay overall.
