A golden lager with a thin white head. Typical German mineral malt aroma, lightly herbaceous. In mouth, a crisp malt with mineral notes, classy. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, July 20, 2008, shared with Muzzlehatch. jcwattsrugger (12427) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - DEC 13, 2009

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2012 My Bottom Line:TaktikMTL (7805) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 22, 2005
This Helles focuses on its slender honeyed pils malts, peppery hops and perfect lagering to achieve a crisp mouthfeel and irrefutable pleasure.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the clear golden.
-Cereals return in the simple finish.
-Peppery hops are well balanced with the pils malt profile.
-The prickly carbonation feels forced. I like my Helles with softer, fluffier carbonation.
On tap at the brewpub.
(Rating #325)

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2006 Batch 1 Draught pint at the brewpub with Muzzlehatch on 11/5/05. Very proper appearance. Just the slightest hint of haze to a copper-gold with a dark brass tinge and a very high level of clarity. White head is small and moderately well retained, with light spotty lacing. Aroma pours forth warm baked brown bread, crusty and with a sour dough. Magnificently dry, sweaty, hay-like hoppiness and plenty of herbal influences (tarragon, sage, rosemary). Touches of honey drip from the bread as well. Flavor begins with a large, pervasive yeastiness that is authentic, lightly sour, very crisp and satisfying. I havent had a nice lager-yeast bite on the finsih like a lager should have, in a long time. More sourdough breadiness and drops of honey coat the palate, while the hops are done splendidly. Not too much bitterness, and the flavor, while fresh, hay-like and mildly herbal, does not detract from the malts and yeast. Texture shows a lively, fresh, drinkable helles, just such that it should be, with a soft breadiness and a very crisp yeast bite on end (as I already have said). Moderate, engaging carbonation, medium-full body for the style. Fantastically drinkable example. Taktik_MTL and VTHophead=CRAZY! ;)Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 28, 2008
Batch 2 Draught pint at the brewery on 3/11/06.
Eek, what happened here?? The nose is full of brass and copper, with way too much sour munich malt apparency. The flavor is just dishearteningly overyeasted, with not enough attenuation, or just too much residual yeast character. Sourish, grainy and metallic character builds up sluggishly on the palate. No glimpse of its former self. 6/4/5/2/11 Rating is an average of the two batches.
A highly refreshing lager of great balance.

Very fresh character encompasses all the ingredients. Pleasant whispering hops, but mostly delicious pils malt with a certain sweetness that reminds of honey and vanilla. Tight and efficient, cleansing carbonation. Very clean.
Almost headless. Quickly fading carbonation. Could dry out a bit more.
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2011 In short: A clean, full bodied and well balanced blonde lager. Very nice session beer.Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - OCT 12, 2012
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: true lager nose that I never can put into words (just that fruitless lager esters) with herbal hops notes. Taste proposes a rich creamy bed of pale malts, a bit doughy, light notes of apples and apricots, egg-white (I often get that from lagers) with a nice amount of herbal hops with a mild bitterness. This have improved that beer a lot since the last time I had it some years ago. This beer is nourishing and easy to drink. Just what I’m looking for in a Helles. Unfortunately in America this style that is to beer what adult-soft-rock is to music.
Toasty and crisp Helles. With a beer of this style you could take over the world. Twice. Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAR 21, 2011
Draft. Pours a pale golden body with a white head. Grainy with mild apple like fruit tones, absolutely reminds me of coors light. Very thin, dank wet malt mildew like flavors, grain y and bitter. Very weak and thin, not a fan.
