Tap pour into snifter glass at American Flatbread/Zero Gravity place Burlington. Appearance is almost a nitro looking IPA. Black with over a full finger tannish head. Nice lacing. Aroma has a roasted malty and chocolate presence. Little bit of bitterness can be found. Taste continues with vanilla and chocolate notes. Crisp and fresh which is welcomed. Toasted malts carry through to the finish with bittersweet characteristics making up the aftertaste. Silky, smooth mouthfeel. Pretty good effort overall. sir__v (2630) - FRANCE - MAR 14, 2016

On tap at Blackback pub.
This was poured into at tulip and I just had HF’s James for comparison.
The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lacing was somewhat there; lightly stringy.
The smell had a crisp sharp bitter cocoa bitterness hitting the coffee notes and then some strong citrus and piney bitterness coming in to bring the bitterness a bit up.
The taste was mainly the same with a decent dry and bittersweet aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a decent dryness (of a Black IPA) showing its true face and trying to make it "unsessionable."
Overall, as a Black IPA, well, somehow, this one comes out a bit better than HF’s only because the aftertaste and finish aren’t as harsh as HF’s. I’d still have HF’s but Zero Gravity beat them out on style guidelines, just saying. pushkinwow (2962) - Ottawa, CANADA - AUG 29, 2015

My Bottom Line:BeerGolem (829) - Quebec, CANADA - DEC 7, 2014
This floral and roasty Black IPA delights with its cushy mouthfeel and sustained fir-like finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the blackened brown.
-Drinkability is quite high despite the flavor intensity.
-All flavors are ably balanced.
-Roasted malts are soft enough to let the floral hop aromatics shine through.
On tap at American Flatbread Burlington.
On tap at American Flatbread (Burlington). Pours dark brown with black cherry reflects. Medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma: interesting mix of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, smoke and wood. Subtle. Taste is not balanced at all. Coffee bitterness is kind of verwhelming. Much more Stout than IPA. Full bodied. Sammy (13013) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 30, 2014
Lacy on black but thin for the style, some licorice. Drinkable although only fair for style. 6
