Draft at brewpub. Pours light brown with a white head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Lots of smoke notes on the nose that grow fainter on the tongue. Finished clean. Solid. voyageurmike (502) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 5, 2017
Draft at brewpub. Copper clear medium bodied. Smoke taste is pronounced compared to underneath caramel sweetness. Sweet finish is lingering. biirusaikou (2705) - - JAN 4, 2016
Draught at American Flatbread. Quite malt forward with lingering smokey notes, interesting paired with their oven baked pizza. Had low expectations but these guys are surprisingly solid brewers. Reynolds314 (3470) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 3, 2013
Very light and smokey. Could use a bit more malty sweetness to counter the dry cracker malts and smoke. overall its decent but lacking. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - OCT 19, 2013
On draft, big plisner flavors, smoke, light and tasty, pretty good stuff. I like it

Beechwood smoked malts seduce from aroma to finish in this simple but ever-so-efficient Rauchbier.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy sheet of foam covers the misty amber.
-Carbonation is quite prickly (artificial). Drinkability would be higher with softer, natural carbonation, imho.
-Mouthfeel is as crisp as all of their lagers.
-Subtle herbal hops add depth, but this is still a brew for smoke lovers, and smoke lovers only.
On tap at the brewpub.
On tap at the source... Pours a transparent copper consistency, clear throughout, and topped with a creamy white head... Semi-sweet salty smoke and toasted grain... Crisp and lively almost too much with a fairly firm smokey profile balanced with a semi-sweet grain aspect. patrick767 (4115) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 11, 2011
tap at the brewpub - Pours red with an off-white head. It has a mild aroma with a little malt and smoke that starts to come through as it warms. It’s hard to tell in this restaurant that has a wood fire pizza oven in the main room though. There’s already a bit of a smoky smell in the air. The flavor is sweet with smoke coming through in the finish and more as it warms until it’s quite obvious. Caramel malt flavors lead into a dry, smoky finish. Pretty good. Draft at American Flatbread - Burlington. Sweet, caramel malt aroma, some tea leaves and maple showing here, along with very light smoke. Clear medium amber color, with a fine, diminishing head. Flavor is also full of sweet caramel, with herbal, fruity hop and light, woody smoke. Effervescent and clean on the palate, some residual sweetness lingering late, body is medium. Not too smoky, really, but not bad. VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - SEP 25, 2011
Draft (sample) at SIPtemberfest 2011 - Pours a darkish amber in color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is a bit malty and medium of a peaty smoke. Flavor is also mildly smokey with a medium maltiness. The hops are muted, but present. I like this because the smoke is not at all over the top. Good one!
