Light hazed golden/yellow with slow but persistent effervescence and a white head that lingers but settles scummy. Leather and cocoa atop florals to start, but diacetyl emerges as the head fades along with dry wood and medicinal notes. Light malts are wooden with honey in flavor and I truly wish they would cover the overwhelming essence of Band-Aid®.Crit (4057) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 19, 2005
P.S. No mental block here ("Communist Block"?)... it’s simply not a great beer. Take that from someone who’s sampled a <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewRatingsByCountry. more Russian beers than <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewRatingsByCountry. previous rater.

Gold, stark white head.Very faint malt nose.A somewhat malty lager similar to some of the Chinese ones. Not as bad as everyone makes it out to be...a mental block regarding beers from this area perhaps. beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - OCT 6, 2005
Purchased brown bottle from Fine Liquors in Mundelein, IL. Clear golden amber color with light nutty malt aroma. Small white head with fair lacing. Some carbonation. Light bodied. Dry palate that starts with a slight nutty malt flavor and finishes with moderate bitterness. Okay beer that good for washing down food and quenching thirst, but not for savoring. wilkie (1208) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 14, 2005
Bottle. Aroma is weak and seems a little sweet with little malt baking or hops. Apearance is golden, small head. Weak watery flavor, a little sweet, no bitterness. Ughgh. Amelrus (2) - Chelyabinsk, RUSSIA - AUG 29, 2005 does not count
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2007 Bready aroma with some barley. Golden color. Very light bitter. Soft Carbonation. Still a little low on the bitterness.

Seven Seas distributing. Aroma is vaguely floral. Light golden, cloudy hue. Mild in flavor, with a lasting effervescense in the mouth. Tart, puckering hop finish. More of a novelty with great packaging. For less than $2, it’ll do in a pinch. thegreenrooster (4558) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 23, 2005
Pour is a cloudy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is actually pretty good. You get a nice malty aroma for a lager. Flavor is not as bad as some Eastern Euro brews. And no skunk! NIce malts and a wee bit of hops at the end make this a very suprising lager from Russia. Magjayran (1379) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 21, 2005
Hardly deserves a rating. Golden color with a thin white head. Lacing is almost nonexistent. Boring grainy flavor. At least it tastes fresh. dm9831 (1512) - Monee, Illinois, USA - MAY 1, 2005
my notes(which are usually pretty hard to decipher around this point during a beer tasting) suggests this is not a very memorable beer. pale yellow color, slight head. grainy aroma, with very little flavor, and what’s there is a bit sweet for me. a disappointing russian brew (i’ll stick with my baltika 3). Re-reading my buddy CORNFIELD’s review...he nailed it! It’s almost like it wasn’t there... That can’t be good, right? Supplied by LoSBD member dm9831...Good find, bro!
