330ml green bottle. Golden pour, thin white cap. Nose has some sweetness, grain. Taste has grainy sweetness. Dry finish, faint grass and straw in the aftertaste. Light body, average carbonation. Standard Asian pale lager.

Bottle.Tried as Pearl River lager. Blond and clear with a small head.Sweetness dominates eventually submerging any other flavours that might have been present. Only my third beer from China-things have got to get better.

33cl green embossed bottle as Pearl River Beer. It pours a clear gold, SURPRISINGLY not skunked this appears to be a fresh import. Aroma is kind of sake-like, boozy rice water, hint of odd umami. Flavor follows, sake-like nougaty flavor. Meh,...

Zhujiang Gold Lager. Bouteille verte. [notes 2006]

(Bottle - as Pearl River Beer) Pours clear golden with transient loose white head. Slight and not great aroma - cardboard with hints of citrus and perfume. Light bodied and fizzy. Tastes horrible - coarse grain or rice malt, some sugar or maybe artificial sweetener and some metallic bitterness in finish. This is going down the drain, I can’t drink it..

330ml bottle at Sydney Chinatown food court. No aroma, flat beer in green bottle. Zingy in the mouth. Finish is sweet. Inoffensive, good with dumplings!
