Braudog (6902) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - MAR 3, 2003
Dark brown with a chocolate/cappucino head. Rather flat tasting with less character than A-B's Michelob Amber Bock. Bare hint of coffee. Bare beer, aimed at the mass markets. I was disappointed, but it's still better than many mass-produced products.

this beer rocks and when you can get it on tap, do yourself a favor and give it about 2 or 3 before you make up your mind.

I was wondering if this was Bock-lite or Bock-by-Bud. It was billed as a local Texas craft beer. It was free. Even free, it was a bad deal ...

Fizzy amber lager, not much bockish about it, similar in damp, light malty effect to the Shiner it emulates.

drinkitup (13) - Spring, Texas, USA - JAN 24, 2003
a quality texas brew. i had already polished off about a 12 pack of shiner when we got to the ol' zb, so i'm not sure what it tasted like, but its made in texas, so it has to be good

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2003 Picked this up while doing a quick liquor run in Dallas. Seems to be more of the same: a decent amber color, but feels like water, has no kick to it at all, and flavor is completely one-dimensional.

Bottle. Dark amber. Slick malty body but a watery aftertaste. A little musty and also has some caramel sweetness.

2.4
Crit (4105) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 12, 2002
Light brown, huge lasting off white head.Stale beery light malt nose.Light malt taste with slightly dry malt finish. Gassy and fizzy. No body

First I must second the suggestion to visit the Big Texan for steaks. You won't be disappointed. Not much I can add, definitely a Shiner copycat. A beer to drink if moneys short and your not feeling adventuresome.
