Nice roast grains come thorugh up front in aroma and flavor. Murky bown beer with thick, foamy head. Bitterness is not overbearing, but gives beer a nice bite.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2017 I think this is a good lager style beer, aromatic, hay-ish, barley, malty, sweet, pure. Refreshing and nice, also nice colour.

From BA: October 2007: Poured into a Schultheiss half litre sleeve glass 7 days in front of its best before date.

This flip-top brown bottle was bought while close to Koblenz earlier this year. The beer being produced to help keep the brewery afloat while all its old traditional outlets sell out to Bitburger.

A slight mist in the ’Alt bier’ type colour, muddy red, dark brown, with a firm biege head that stays the distance.

The aroma is all about maltiness, hops and yeast.

Good solid beery taste, the malts from the smell are very prominent in the taste as well. At first I thought it a little sweet, then a dryness arrives to take that idea away.

You know you are drinking a beer here, this has some body and substance to it.

I am glad I found this beer and also glad I enjoyed it. As I have said in other reviews for this brewery, it is an old favourite and I would hate for it to die. This beer could well be the one to save it from closure.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2016 Not bad for a Bitburger bier. A bit too bubbly for my likes, but a nice choice for a meal.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Piana znikoma. Ogolnie smaczne ale nieco więcej oczekiwalem

BeerViking (5085) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2013
On tap at Bierfest-Hannover, a lovely red brown with a clingy head, caramel malt and dark fruit nose, hints of bread. Body is fruity, dry-sweet, faintly nutty, touches of toffee and prune. Excellent example of the style.

Countbeer (6599) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - SEP 10, 2013
Bottle: Served in some kind of pils taster glass:
Medium sized, very vast and thick, slowly changing creamy off white foamy head on top of a cloudy amber to brown colored beer.
Aromas of honey, toast, malts, some caramel, some leaves, some slight hints of marzepin, grains and herbs.
Flavours of toast, cream, malts, bitters, some leaves, hints of caramel and honey, hints of herbs and caramel and some malted grains. Though it’s a Dunkel and you taste a Dunkel it’s not that Dunkel...
Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, malts, toast, some meal and light porridge.
Low carbo, creamy miuthfeel, medium body and a creamy texture.

Chopper925 (597) - Gross Gerau, GERMANY - JAN 14, 2016
Bottle. Hazy brown color, small white head. Light caramel aroma. Balanced sweet, medium bitter taste. Caramel, roasty malt aftertaste. Medium to thin body, medium carbonation.
Good drinkable, very refreshing for a Kellerbier.

shrubber85 (11670) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JUN 6, 2005
Bottle. Roasted wheat malt aroma.. Dark brown color with little head. Burnt malt flavor with slight coffee notes and a mild chocolate finish. Moderate body for a dunkel but still weak. A very nice dunkel.
