August 2007 500ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. A pale yellow lager of modest quality and poor flavour. The malt tastes of adjuncts, cereal and alcohol. There’s a higher dose of hops than average, but that can’t conceal the bad base flavour. And the hops are simply bitter like hop pellets rather than fragrant. Not an enjoyable experience. Like a strange cross between an Eastern European lager and a Czech Republic lager - with Eastern European being the dominant partner. [1.1]
July, 2015 500ml golden can from local Polish supermarket. It’s a little sludgy and rough. Not quite sure of the appeal for the Slovak people. But it’s each to their own. It can be drunk, but it’s not really enjoyable. [1.0]
500 ml green bottle, as "Golden Pheasant Premium", bought in Riga, Latvia. ABV is 5% - or that’s what the rear label reads. There is also a small white sticker in Latvian on the bottle-neck, reading a.o.: "Alkohola saturs 4%". Is the latter alchohol by weight? - or is one of the labels wrong? Anyway, the beer pours with a golden colour and a large white head. The aroma is very Heineken-like, but somewhat better: Fresh aromatic hops with flowery and fruity notes (most BMC drinkers would probably call it "skunky"). Soft mouthfeel. The flavour has moderate but acceptable hops on a background of mellow and sweet pilsener malts. There’s a hint of honey. I’ve had worse pilseners than this one. Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a pale golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was lightly sweet and peppery. The flavor was lightly sweet, corny and had a hint of pepper. The finish was tangy and corny. Quack-Duck (9484) - Down South, GERMANY - JUL 28, 2007
bottle, bought in Prague. Golden yellow, medium-sized head. Hoppy nose. Well-balanced malty and hoppy lager, hints of grain. Malt dominates the flavour. Not spectacular, but quite nice. cyrenaica (1126) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2007
I tried this beer on July 25, 2007 after purchasing it from my local LCBO store. My particular bottle is 5.0% ABV.

The beer poured a translucent gold colour, darker than most North American lagers. The head was quite large and quite dense but disappeared quickly leaving a little lacing on the side. The aroma is hoppy with some yeasty tinges. The mouthfeel is slightly thick with ample carbonation and medium-bodied. The taste is very much pilsener like, but not as good as some of the common Czech Pilseners in my opinion.
a good clean pils, nothing fancy, just a solid pils. good warm summer weather beer, nothing more. Acknud (1081) - Morganfield, Kentucky, USA - JUL 24, 2007
Fairly good beer. Not as good as Urquel but drinkable. Pours clean golden with a small white head. goozen (4048) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - JUL 21, 2007
Bottle 0,5ltr bought in Karlovy Vary, Czech Rep: Like more beers from Middle Europe its has that grassy smell and taste at the start of drinking the liquid. It will change in a very drinkable brew. krysztofar (344) - belleville, Illinois, USA - JUL 18, 2007
16.9 rich golden color with lots of carbonation in a clean looking lager with a just off-white head. crisp aroma of cereal grains light malt sweetness and bright hops. very clean dry finish without much hop bite but a decent european malt character before it comes to an unimpressive finish. mephisto (1287) - TAIWAN - JUL 10, 2007
bottled. clear golden with lively carbonation, the aroma is grassy. light bodied, it has typical pilsner crispiness.
