Thick head dissipates fairly quick. Malty and slightly sweet aroma. Sweet and full bodied taste settles to a slightly more moderate finish. Fairly typical for a pilsner. Very enjoyable. brewmeistersgb (10) - USA - AUG 8, 2002
Very Good beer. A Classic........................................... RichardGretton (4770) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2005
Dark golden beer with a light head and a fruity and dry aroma. The flavour is caramel hopped and quite dry. Overall a good Eastern European lager. IHCNavistar (93) - Orinda, California, USA - JUL 8, 2006
Bottle. Aroma is comprised mainly of hops, similar to that of Budweiser, but stronger and without the unpleasant corny/grainy/yeasty taste of American macros like Bud and Coors. Taste is similar to that of a Heineken (minus the slight yeast detectable in a Heineken), which is not all that suprising, seeing how the brewer is a Heineken company. The hops are quite plesant, dominating over any malts, but not to the point where it becomes too hoppy for a pilsener. Some malt is slightly detectable, with very slight yeast notes. Carbonation is very good, lasting throughout the 1 pint bottle. Definitely a repeat pilsener buy. Quite delicious and refreshing when very cold! misko (10) - Woodbridge, Virginia, USA - JAN 8, 2007
Better than it’s 10% cousin. Wish I could have brought over a few bottles with me.

I do really find this style very easy and interesting to drink. This has a pleasant maltiness and a smooth palate. Quite gentle and left no lacing. An excellent summer beer. DerWeg (1695) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 13, 2007
Bottle from LCBO. Heavily malty for the style yet manages some assertive noble hops presence. Feels a bit heavy and sweet but is never cloying, one gets used to the extra weight. when fresh this is exactly what a Slovak-owned brew is supposed to be. humalahop (17) - HUNGARY - NOV 6, 2012
Bottled from Slovakia. Medium head, good carbonation, fresh bitterness in the taste, long finish. Christos (5862) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - AUG 11, 2014
(Zlatý Bažant 12% (Golden Pheasant)) Can 500ml at home, poured into a glass tankard, ABV 5%
Deep golden yellow colour on the body, with a small and quite thick white head sitting on top. Good retention I’d say. Light lacing left behind after the foam has collapsed.
Sweet, malty aroma, along with a nice enough for me aroma of red apples.
Taste is also malty, sweet, some grass, slightly fruity with apples or apple juice, nicely bitter on the aftertaste with the bitterness lasting for quite long.
Medium thin body, a bit low on the carbonation but still on a good level.
Overall quite nice beer, pleasantly drinkable, I wouldn’t mind more of this.
