Bottled. Dark amber colour, little beige longlasting head. Dark chocolate and caramel in aroma and hints of roasted malt. Sweet malty flavour with hints of plum and dark chocolate. Chocolate grows a bit in the finish. Sadly not much much aftertaste. Very wellbalanced. FrankJohansen (3622) - Sabro, DENMARK - FEB 19, 2006
Brownish colour with a medium rocky light brown head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Sweet taste. medium body. Daredevil (76) - Bern, SWITZERLAND - SEP 2, 2007
I would put the dark lager of Zlaty Bazant a tick lower than the original lager ...
this brew is in the classic Slovakian dark style, rather dry, medium bodied and with a surprising lack of roasty notes ... well brewed, but lacks a bit of originality ... sirPino (883) - Zawiercie/Sosnowiec, POLAND - MAY 6, 2008

Appearance: Head is quite thick, froathy to creamy, rather regular structure, colour of head is cappuccino like, not strong carbonation, body is full, nicely lacing, colour of body is deep red, mahogany, almost hebany.
Aroma: A little bit bready, burned sugar, nice toasted malts, chockolate, roastiness, a little hint of cherry, some alcohol notes and notes of burned malts, aroma is generally inviting, coffee, aroma is nice, some wallnuts and cappuccino, some alcoholic note.
Flavour: Nice bitterness, roastyness, toastyness, wallnut, tangy, dry, bready (dark bread), coffee, grainy, of nice malted barley like for pilsener of good quality, burned caramel, vanilla.
Palate: Very nice roastyness, long aftertaste, quite mild and characteristic, full bodied beer, finish feel is medium, roasty, bitter.

A dark red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is roasted combined with rye bread and malt notes. The flavor is very sweet with some vinous caramel and malt notes, very smooth. The end is roasted. saxo (18208) - Hřjbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - APR 19, 2006
Bottle. Small head but with a good long duration. Aroma is roast malt. Taste is on the sweet side with caramel and roast malt. Maybe a bit smoky too. reebtogi (6246) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 10, 2006
An OK beer with a good amber colour and a decent head. Slightly sweet at first with a mild bitter aftertaste. Overall a fairly smooth beer. FatPhil (15967) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 9, 2007
Very dark red, almost black. Pleasantly malty aroma. Very richly roasted burnt maltswhich evolve in the mouth to sweeter maltiness and finally ending as walnuts. Well balanced lager. madmitch76 (24431) - , Essex, ENGLAND - OCT 17, 2010

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle in Bratislava. Light and sweet start. Light bodied - seems to contradict the dark colour. Dry finish, nutty undertone. Good.
