PorterPounder (7965) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 11, 2012
Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 500 ml bottle Pours a sparkling light-medium with an initial bubbly white head that settles and fades. Aroma has some grassy notes, a hint of spiciness. Flavor is crisp and clean with some light saffron-like spice, some underlying buttery notes and a hint of yeast. Mouthfeel has just the rigth amount of spritziness. Not great any in one particular area, but overall an excellent Kölsch

This is a pretty plain beer truthfully. Light but little flavor, a indistinct finish. Very boring.

Bright yellow, thick and disappearing head. Aroma has butter-like malt. Sweetish flavour has some butter. Rather typical and boring.

ganache (5897) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 26, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2011 Bottle. Lightly fruity nose under the citrus and pale malt. Clear golden body with an off-white head. Taste is lightly sweet and medially grassy with a mineral element and an almost candyish-fruitiness just under the surface. Touch of grain in a mature malt profile. Medium body, body is ultra soft and refined (lagering does a lot for me these days). Clean and dries out a lot by the end. Pleasant and refreshing, despite the mild, mild hint at metal in the aftertaste. Delicate and joyous!

Had this again on tap at Berliner Republik, the candyish sweetness really stood out again, and the above rating holds -- very quaffable.

SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Draught at Kreuzberg CA. Clear golden with a fine white head. Metallic and slightly papery aroma with underlying sweet, bready pils malt. Light in body and softly carbonated. Lightly hopped and moderately sweet with simple pils malt flavors and a clean, relatively dry finish. Lightly fruity but pretty clean. A relatively inoffensive and easy drinkin koelsch suffering from some wear, though I’m not sure where the metallic aroma is coming from. These beers are so sad when we get them over here, but I keep trying new ones to see if one can buck the norm. Not this guy, though it’s still drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Gourmet Haus Staudt. Pale yellow-golden in color with a small white head. Rather faint aroma, grassy with grains and pale malt. The flavor is a bit more interesting, with a decent grassy hop presence and pale malt. Not too much to it though. Light in body with good crispness and drinkability, but that’s about all it has. Overall a pretty run-of-the-mill Kolsch.
