3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
from bieronlineshop.ch - pours a cloudy brown-orange beer with a poor head retention; fair smokey notes on top of decent fruity tones; medium-bodied, astringent and with some sweetness below; quite dry and smokey finish with lingering notes of oranges
500ml bottle [brick-and-mortar twitter from bartlebier, merci!]. Cloudy, orangey golden colour with small to average, frothy to macropore, collapsing, off-white head. Mildly smoky, strawy and grainy aroma, a touch of wet hay, allusions to sauerkraut. Taste is bitter-smoky, wet grassy, slightly tart, unspecific fruitiness with subtle sweetness. Sluggish and minimally musty Grätzer/Lichtenhainer interpretation. bartlebier (4261) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - AUG 31, 2015

Basler Biermarkt, Sud 327 MHd AUG2015. A gentle fruity tartness of firewood-tinged moroccon lemons in Hefeweizen - is this an attemped Lichtenhainer? Once into that mindset, I could pick up on the minerals to make this indeed a smoked Gose spineoff, but the ephemeral fruity aromas seem undecisive: some bready wheats, more pickled lemon, a Weyermann smoked twig or two. Odd again, but enjoyable this time (+quenching in 35C concrete beer paradise).
