On tap at Zwei poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of toffee, earthiness and light dried fruit. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. This is chestnut amber in color. The nose here is relatively subdued but this a has a nice toasty, nutty malt character once you taste it and a pleasant earthy bitterness in the finish. It’s a medium bodied brew cut w/ vigorous carbonation. This style is rarely done well so it’s actually kind of nice to see one that is at least OK w/ some malt character w/o being all kinds of sweet. brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 21, 2015
On tap @ Zwei Brewing. Light brown color with some off-white foam. So much toasty and bready malts on this. A bunch of grassy hops and a touch of chocolate. Slight acidity and a fair amount of toasty nuttiness. A little bit on the estery side, actually.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, dough, bread into a bit of red fruits, some earthy notes as well. Clear slightly dark Amber with a thin white cap. Dark chewy aroma with a bit of caramelised wheat. The flavor is large and semisweet with some bready toast and caramelised wheat malt, a touch of cocoa, and a toasty bready dark finish. Nice.

On tap at the brewery. Darker amber and clear appearance with a white head. Dark malts, toasted grains, bread, light chocolate, earthy hops and a touch of roasted coffee. Served on tap at Zwei Bruder, Fort Collins. Pours a clear golden brown - lighter in color than other dunkels I’ve had. Low carbonation and little head that disappears quickly. On tap @ Zwei Bruder in Fort Collins. Burnt orange / brown appearance with a tan head. Honey roasted nuts, caramel, pecans, and toffee in the nose - smells nice. Carbonation is a bit dull. The flavor is a bit buttery though I don’t think it’s diacetyl. More of a buttery caramel flavor. Lots of toffee and mild earthy hops. Malt forward as expected and the sweetness is held in check well. Drinks just fine.
