Bottle. Being Polish-American, it was time to taste Polands best seller. Poured a medium amber with average white head. Aroma and flavor was an average hop tone with a medium finish. Average brew. Will hunt out the Porter.

[bottle] Bright straw with a rocky, white head that dissipates to a thick cover. Aroma is a little bit skunky, but full of noble hops that is balanced with a crisp maltiness; notes of fruit and a tiny bit of diacetyl. Flavour does not blow you away, but is a pleasant blend of noble hops and malt with a little fruitiness and the diacetyl that was present in the aroma does not come out in the flavour. Some ginger ale quality after halfway through the bottle and nondescript fruit. Light body with considerable carbonation, but not watery. Not a bad lager, really.

This is not a good brew - it smells bad, and it tastes even worse. One of only a handful of beers I refused to finish. I had medium expectations of this beer because of the porter by its namesake. But do not be falsely led on...this is a cheap adjunct lager.

500ml brown bottle. Golden pour, holds a creamy white head that fades into a thin film on the surface. Some malt in aroma, light grassy hop. Flavourwise, some clean malts, a bit of hops in aftertaste.

I drank quite of few of these over the past few months and I can say that Ive never been disappointed. Quite a nice looking beer--straw gold, foam for a brief moment--but nothing out of this world. I dont recall anything out of the ordinary about the smell--certainly not anything negative that others have noted. I dont mind the flavour, but a friend who tried it when I first brought it home was immediately turned off by it. A good brew to have now and again, but nothing to die for.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Polands best known beer? Well, at least outside Poland it is, I guess. Clear, golden with a very limited head. Most characteristic is the extremely soft mouthfeel, almost like velvet on your tongue... Maybe its because of the mountain springwater? All aside its basically just a strong lager with a rounded bitterness. Good one. 140203

Light and fruity, pretty clean taste. This doesnt deviate too much from the ranks of random european lagers, but order it fearlessly in a Polish restaurant.

(500 ml bottle: $1.69 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) LMAO. The beer isn’t very good, but this "Beer Thermometer" on the back label is a fricking riot! Now, what we really need in this industry is a "Beer Quality" indicator on back labels, and it only shows the logo if the beer is worth drinking. Undoubtedly, no such logo would ever appear on the label of this pale lager. It’s not even that good compared to some other Eastern European lagers available for purchase in SoCal. This one just tastes like cheap lager, with only a moderate grain/corn flavor and some spicy hops, neither of which have enough presence to help this beer. The nose is somewhat mild, but still smells like a cheap lager. Fairly light in body, but not totally watery like a light beer. Clear in appearance and medium golden in color. Whitish head is average all around, pouring to half an inch in height, settling to a thin rim, and leaving a few patches of lace on the glass. I’m part Polish, and I so really want to like this beer, but I just can’t betray my Polish integrity. This is not a good beer.

Pale yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma of malts and hops with notes of sweet gale. Watery flavour with notes of malt, alcohol and hops. Boring beer, one of the few beers that I couldnt finish.
