First tried at a Polish restaurant some years back. Opaque black in appearance, with thick foamy head. Aroma/taste: roasted malts, bold espresso and chocolate with a nice hoppy bite. Pairs great with Hunters stew and Bavarian hocks.

Pours dark brown with unstable beige head of large bubbles. Nose (not any intense) is caramel, coffee, iron. Mouth is a class better, but I still cant see why it has so many fans (expect a low price). Caramel, cherries. Weak booziness strikes with every sip, successfully covering any pros. High carbonation decreases the overall impression. Quite watery, the sugary viscosity repairs this a bit. Very dry aftertaste of coffee, caramel, sourness and astringency. Overall: Excellent for Żywiec, but absolutely does it not deserve a rank in top50 of baltic porters.

0,33l bottle. Thick black colour with a slowly shrinking but lasting stiff creamy beige head. Aroma: Caramel, fruits (plum, rasin, black currant) with roasted coffee beans, chocolate and vanilla notes. Great. Taste: Has a full sweet, rich malty start with a pleasent bitter mouthfeel. Has slight tarty elements but overall well balanced beer. Has a buttery texture. Medium/full body with medium carbonation. Long bitter/sweet and dry finish. Very good porter.

Bottles 23.08.2018 and 12.09.2015. Aroma: Soy sauce, molasses, nuts, alcohol, sweet malty. Medium-full body, light bitterness, alcohol. Matured is much better.

Paloność w aromacie dominuje. Piana dosyć trwała. W smaku wychodzą nuty palonego słodu. Goryczka wyraźna. Tak jak powinno być w porterze bałtyckim. Niezły porter z koncernu.

500ml Bottle from Oki Doki Hostel, Warsaw, Poland (9.50PLN):
This one was definitely a strong beer, that much was clear from the start when a lot of toasted malts & some hints of alcohol start to come through but thankfully it wasnt as overpowering as I had feared it might be. There was a nice amount of chocolate coming through in the early going with plenty of sugars but the balance remained good &the beer was definitely drinkable. Towards the middle &end some caramel flavours along with some toffee start to make an appearance &turn this one into a beer thats not quite a classic but still well worth trying.

I think its the best product from big Polish breweries. Full-bodied, expressive, roasty. Flavor reminds me dark chocolate liqueur pralines with some fruit. Acohol is slightly perceptible, but in a pleasant way. The beer is really tasty and dangerously drinkable. Besides, its readily available and cheap. Recommendable beer!

Used to get this one a lot cause the bodega across the street had 16.9 oz bottles for $1.69. 9 years later, its $1.99. Not too bad. Anyway, this is a very solid Baltic porter and the best offering Ive had from Zywiec. I has a nice smooth chocolately aroma and thick velvety appearance. The taste is a combination of toffee/coffee notes and a kind of green fizzy undercurrent that (mostly) avoids the syrupy yack of lesser Baltic porters. The 9.5 percent is well enough hidden, but you cannot deny the effects one of these big bottles can have on you. Definitely not a sessionable beer! Good for catching up on wrestling while listening to music from Yes-soundalike bands.
