Zywiec Porter, pronounced "je-vi-ets", is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. Production of this Porter was moved to Bracki Bowar in 2004 .

Pours a deep caramel brown beneath a huge, creamy, long-lasting mocha head. Bittersweet and milk chocolate aroma with a punch of dark fruit, a thin layer of cake dough and a whiff of ABV. There is an odd burnt/metallic tinge to the flavor (which I blame on Continental hopping), but the base is semi-sweet chocolate syrup with coffee roasts and a splash of spiced rum. Full-bodied, almost sticky... wholly satisfying on a chill January evening. I remember this being a top-rated Baltic Porter about 5 years ago, and it being very difficult to find at the time. I recently ran across a goodly amount of bottles at several local bottle shops, so Im guessing production and exports have stepped up a notch. ~~~~~~~~~ Pint bottle from Bridgeview Liquors, Bridgeview, IL

Half-liter bottle from a random mini-mart in Poznań. Essentially black, with some dark brown highlights if you squint in the light just so. Light brown foam, sticky lacing. Nose of dark caramelized sugar, roasted nuts, figs. Begins sweetish before rolling into a roast-bitterness, getting boozier in the finish. Lingering roast-bitter aftertaste, and last kiss of dark sugar. Medium-heavy body, not as thick as some of the bolder new-wave ones, but plenty rich enough to enjoy.

Ciemne jak nocne niebo z delikatnymi przeblyskami. Piana przecienta, dosc szybko sie redukuje. W aromacie suszone owoce, kawa, czekolada, i niestety alkohol przeslaniajacy wiekszosc. Mocno jak na portera nagazowane. W smaku lekka metalicznosc i alkohol przeslaniajacy reszte doznan. Kontra goryczkowa wydaje sie przez nagazowanie za mocna. Przy nizszych temp picia lekka kwasowosc. Powinno polezakowac

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Appearance is dark brown with red hues--almost opaque--with light sparkle evident at the side of the glass, creamy beige head with fair retention and nice sudsy lacing. Aroma is dark fruits, alcohol, light roasted malts. Taste is dark fruit, dark chocolate with toasty malts, mild alcohol. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and toasty malt/fruit finish. Overall, a nice, standard baltic porter.

0.5 l bottle from MC Kiosk, best before November 2016 (probably 1,5 years old). Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, licorice and some lovage. Moderately sweet, very roasty-malty, a bit umami and a little oxidized taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, hints of lovage and soy sauce, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, umami finish. Full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Wow! Didnt expect such intense stuff at all. Flavours are a bit weird though, maybe already too old?! Still quite nice nevertheless.
