High Mountain Craft Beer Festival
The Rotary Club of Hazleton invites the public for a unique experience, the High Mountain Craft Beer Festival, which will take place on June 9 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Genetti Best Western Inn & Suites, Route 309, Hazle Township.
According to the Brewers Association, an American craft brewer is small, independent and traditional.
There will be 40 different varieties of craft beer available for tasting at the festival.
Beer vendors include Dog Fish Brewery, Lion Brewery, Verrastro Distributors, Banko North and Resort Distributors.
Some of the craft beers that will be available are Dog Fish 75 min IPA (very rare), Magic Hat No. 9, Weyerbacher Ė Last Chance (first time available in the county), Victory-double Hop, Mary Monk, Leinenkugel, Konig Ludwig, Warsteiner Premium Dunkel, Stephens Point, Lion Brewery craft beer, Heineken Brands, plus many more.
There will be no charge for the beer tasting, it is part of the entry fee.
CEO of Dog Fish Beer, Nick Benz, will be available to answer questions.
Verrastro Beer Distributor will have a drawing for a grand prize which will be a one-half day introduction to road racing program at Pocono Raceway. The prize includes tickets for two with one night hotel room at the Pocono Sports Car Grand Prix weekend at Pocono Raceway plus a half day at Bertil Roos Racing School.
Other vendors will have drawings and prizes as well.
Avariety of food items that go well with beer, such as bratwurst, bauemwurst, krainerwurst, German wiener, burgers potato salad, Buffalo bites, steak and cheese and pierogies will be available for purchase from Genettiís.
Additional vendors include cigars from Cigar Box of Pennsylvania, Tshirts from Screen Print Plus and Simply Homebrew Beer and Winemaking.
Event co-sponsors are the Hazleton Standard Speaker and Froggy 101.
Entertainment will be provided by Torn Down, a local band.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate the day of the event. Designated drivers (non-drinking) are $10. Persons must be 21 years old to attend.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from any Rotary Club member or at Genettiís, Beer Stop (Pantry Quik,West Hazleton); Sudzerís Beer to Go (Groceries Plus), T. Verrastro Beer Distributor, Citizenís Publishing, Brennerís Recycling or Malone & Nenstiel Insurance.

There is still vendor space available for the event. Vendor applications must be returned by June 1. Cost is $75 with $25 returned after cleanup.

Proceeds from the project will be used to fund various Rotary community service projects.
