The Great Heavy Seas Cask Takeover; 5 Casks in All – Plus Meet & Greet with Heavy Seas Founder Hugh Sisson!

Next Thursday, ChurchKey will turn over all 5 of its beer engines to Heavy Seas, the foremost cask producer in the United States, for an unforgettable night of beautiful cask ales.

ChurchKey recently sent up a few members of its bar staff to the Heavy Seas brewery to build two of these casks personally. The first is Loose Cannon, a fantastic IPA which shows incredibly well on cask; this cask iteration is dry-hopped with over 10 oz. of Simcoe, Amarillo, Fuggles, & Columbus hops as well as a touch Pear Wood. The other ChurchKey-built cask is bourbon barrel-aged Peg Leg; to this Imperial Stout, we added Allspice Wood & Soft Maple Wood. We can’t wait to see how these babies turned out!

The other 3 in the evening’s lineup include Black Cannon Black IPA, Siren Noire Imperial Stout, and Powder Monkey, an English Pale Ale brewed with UK Fuggles, UK Goldings & Cascade Hops.

Hugh Sisson, the founder of Heavy Seas and the man behind the beer will also be in the house to talk shop – come hang out and visit with an absolute legend in the beer industry!

There is no admission fee for this event and all Heavy Seas casks will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. pours.

I'm making a game-day decision on this one. I plan to be there, but I have a few outstanding things that might get in the way.
