I have always been a harsh rater I think, with the difference in my averages always being somewhat similar to where it stands now at -.15. I am not ashamed of being a snob. Great beer is really great, most beer is bad.

MBI = 1792/9999 = 18% AMBI = 1319/9999 = 13%

YES! Avg Score Given 2.85 Avg Beer Rated 3.08 MBI: 389/16866 = 2,3% AMBI: 220/16866 = 1,3% Unfortunately because of my long rating career (over 13 years), there’s few AMBI-beers which shouldn’t be there anymore.

If your MBI drops below 10%, start asking yourself some serious questions whether you still like drinking beer, are consciously seeking out quality or poor new stuff, or just like voicing disappointment with your (drinking) life in general.
Perhaps this guy decided to call it a day after a run of awesome beers was broken by a couple of 0.5 stinkers pushing him into the MBI critical zone? https://www.ratebeer.com/user/15218/
That is one manic-depressive’s rating curve...

I think of the latter as relating to "harshness" with the former relating to the overall quality of your typical beverage. Conclusion: I like to drink good beer, but I don’t enjoy it as much as I should.
Spot-on qualitative analysis of an easy quantitative game.

I skipped the 5 pages of responses but yes I am. For me a great beer starts around 3.5 and amazing is hitting 4.0. Rarely do I go over a 4 rate and my highest rate isn’t even close to a 5.0. Basically I’m a dick.

MBI = 941/5980 = 15,7% AMBI = 608/5980 = 10% Ergo: you’re less of a dick than you’d like to think/many here. And not even close to misoboozers TBone (2,3%!) and koelschtrinker, who might need interventions.

My MBI is 322/2057= 15.6% My AMBI is 236/2057= 11.4% If only considering the last two-three years, I bet I’d definitely fall below 10% in the MBI range. Considering my average score per rate is a 3.24, that has to factor in as well; 3.9 is a significantly high rate for me these days. I was more generous in by-gone days.

No but I frequently drink and enjoy pale lagers so obviously I am flawed. Average Score Given 3.33 Average Beer Rated 3.19 Not as bad as I would have thought. MBI 20.95% AMBI 14.66% Again, expected higher. I like this stat, but it doesn’t take into consideration the quality of beers one has had like the ASG vs. ABR comparison does. However I’m not sure how anyone can say that someone else didn’t enjoy (or hate) a beer as much as they say they did when our ratings are (supposed to be) done hedonically and not by style.
