Chalk me up as another who doesn’t like beer with pizza. In fact, I usually don’t ever pair beer with food. Although I appreciate the fact that there are many food/beer pairings that compliment each other, when I’m hungry, I enjoy the food and drink water. When I want a beer, I enjoy the beer alone.

Hop Head Red or the like. I think you need that touch of malt sweetness to balance the starch of the crust.

Flying Fish Farmhouse Ale. Makes even bad pizza better (after you throw the bad pizza out the window).

I don’t always drink beer with pizza, but if I do I make it a pale ale.

A dry, hoppy pilsner. Love super fresh prima with a nice cheese pizza. The hops and carbonation cut the fat of the cheese, the bready malt goes well with the crust, and the noble hops play nicely with the herbs and seasonings in the pizza sauce. The pils refreshes the palate and doesn’t overwhelm the pizza flavors.

New Glarus Yokel did the trick with pizza, burgers--just about anything.

Miller Lite or Michelob. No joke.

For those of you that don’t enjoy pairing beer with food, can you pinpoint why?
