My best friend and I went on a 2 day brewery tour to Grand Rapids MI last year ( Sanctioned by our wives, minor miracle ). Grand Rapids has 10 breweries in their general vicinity.

We are planning our brewery trip for the summer right now. Do you have any recommendations for our next brewery tour trip?

Tampa could be a contender with cigar city, Peg’s, 7venth sun, and more.

So is Philly and its suburbs

Southern California is an obvious answer, or central Colorado. Asheville is also called "beer city".

Cleveland has 4 big ones and then about 4 lesser ones. The problem is some of them have fairly large distro and not a ton of pub exclusives.

Great Lakes, Fat Heads, Brew Kettle, Buckeye, Willoughby
Nano Brew, Market Garden, Ohio brewing, lagerheads, cellar rats,

My wife and I just had a fantastic trip to Vermont. Over two days we went to Hill Farmstead, Zero Gravity (American Flatbread), Alchemist, Fiddlehead, Magic Hat (eh), Citizen Cider, and some great restaurants/bars. We could have easily done more if we weren’t doing other Vermonty things and the fact that lots of places were closed on Easter Sunday.

I can vouch, Cleveland and Philly (out to harrisburg and easton) are solid.

Northern California was great for me (Anchor, RR, Lagunitas, Bear Republic), loved San Fran. Texas is also fun, Austin has some great ones and awesome BBQ and Mexican

Fort Collins/Longmont/Boulder/Denver Area. Everything is within an hour of each other. New Belgium, Odell, Funkwerks, Crooked Stave, Great Divide, Avery, etc. . . . and those are just the heavy hitters. Plenty more smaller places to be had and great bars/restaurants.

I’d consider taking into account ease of getting from one to the other. Can you walk between them? take a quick bus or train? just a thought. Chicago is rapidly growing into one of these places (finally). There are 10 breweries in about a 3.5 mile radius...

Minneapolis might be a no brainer for you, if you and your friend enjoy hanging out with other beer geeks for the weekend and the timing works for you. The 2013 Ratebeer Summer Gathering is taking place there in mid-August.
