Alpine Beer Company’s Gouden Vallei was released yesterday.

Not a clone when they add pink peppercorns is it?

Nah, but close enough to make it interesting. Plus, like New Glarus and its "Orval clone", Alpine is well-proven enough to make it worth checking out... if you love Orval. For curiosity’s sake if for nothing else.

Try Green Flash Rayon Vert Belgian Style Pale Ale. Not a clone, but in the right vein.

Had the Alpine earlier today, nothing like Orval, but still outstanding.

Did the pink peppercorns add anything to it? I’ve heard of them in brewing (can’t remember where), but they are certainly a curiosity.

Lots of mild peppercorn flavor. As a person who has used pink peppercorns in cooking they were easy for me to single out. The peppercorns did not overpower or dominate, rather they provided an interesting tasty accent. They combined well with a Nelson type hop for a peppery-fruity concoction that was quite surprisingly good. This drank real easy and was gone in a heartbeat. The price was fair at 6.95 per bomber, but unfortunately they had a four bottle limit.
