Hopduvel closed for renovation. What’s going on? Loads of the shops on my list closed too. Wishing I had gone on to Brussels after stocking up at Dranken Geers!

I have a nagging feeling you went to Gent, right after the "Gentse Feesten". 14 days of boozing cheap pilsener in plastic cups, pretending Gent is larger than Brussels, hipper than Barcelona, and artsier than Greenwich, after which Gent closes down to sleep of an endemic hangover. It’s an annoying, but not lethal infliction.
