To call Dick a friend of mine would be a vast overstatement, but I do know him and spoke with him just last month. As a brewer, I am deeply saddened by the loss to our community. As a father, words cannot describe the level of anguish Dick and the rest of Elysian Brewery are going through right now, and I can only hope that they do their best to recover, if that’s even what you do, from a loss like this. A terrible day for the craft brewing industry. RIP young Nap.

I’ve never been hit by a car riding (touch wood) but a great many of my friends have.

This is very sad news indeed.

Thanks for posting, Jeff. Dick Cantwell and Elysian have had a positive presence here in the craft beer community for many years. My wife and I had been following Nap’s story and our hearts go out to Dick, his family and Elysian.

Such a shame. Hard to feel like we do enough for others (or even get the most of life) when something like this happens. My heart goes out to the Cantwells and to all of Nap’s friends. What an awful tragedy.
