driving thru on my way to Texas early oct. and arriving late, so my wife and I will be hungry and thirsty, which of these are recommended? For my wife she likes stouts and porters so that is a must. 75th Street Brewing, Kansas City Bier Company, Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap, Green Room Burgers & Beer, McCoy’s Public House, |
You state heading to Texas but are asking about Kansas City... Because that is a planned stop or? What route will you be taking? |
I am a stouts and porters guy as well and this will be completely contradictory to what you are after, but I’d honestly check out Crane Brewing. And more in line with what you might like....Torn Label. |
yes a planned stop spending the night |
There’s an active and friendly group of raters in and near KC if you’re inclined to meet someone for a beer or bottle. |
craftbeerkc.com is a more active forum for KC Beer folks. As Travlr mentions, bunch of friendly folk there who will be happy to give recommendations / meet you out for a beer. |
Martin City beers are very good. |
Thanks for the info, unfortunately I don’t think we will have time to meet with anyone, will be getting in late and leaving early |
Free State brewing in Lawrence KS is one of my bucket-list breweries to visit someday. Its only about 20 miles west of KC and not too far off I-70. |
Originally posted by capn_ahab A friend went there not long after they opened and I finally stopped in when taking my youngest to college a few years back. Good food and good beers. They had bottles to go, but I was there too late on a Sunday to buy them. (Weird state laws) |
Originally posted by fly I’ve seen places where you can’t buy beer early on a Sunday. I guess that reduces the risk of drunk people showing up to church drunk. unless they have alcohol at home. but I’ve never seen a place where you can’t buy beer late. that is weird |
