Hi team. Well, I must say that I was impressed with the proposals - all four of them. I can’t recall a year when we’ve had four submissions (usually we get two, sometimes three). It’s great to see such enthusiasm. I would implore all those of you intending to vote to read through all the proposals - clearly, a lot of time has gone into them. A slight digression: in years past we have tossed around the idea of having a RateBeer European Winter Gathering, as they have done in the US. Given that we now seem to have some great beer destinations spread across the continent - arguably too many for just one large gathering each year - perhaps once the RBESG is over we should seriously consider adding a winter edition. But that is a discussion to have post RBESG. So, the voting. By the end of the day on 1 April, please send a beermail to me AND user chriso. Make the email subject "RBESG". In the body of your message, please note the proposal you vote for, and also note if you are a local to that area. Honour system here, friends. Please only vote for a location if you intend to attend. Similarly, please do not solicit votes from people who will not be able to attend. Without further ado, here are the proposals, listed in the order that I received them: Edinburgh, Scotland: 6-9 July https://docs.google.com/document/d/17WvCdJfZahJhO9y2INoDtUbTBXiA1QLVrv7u41Kp9nY/edit Bratislava, Slovakia: 13-15 July https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6yvIG9WeEr3T21IcWxnaU1xRVE/view Asturias, Spain: 22-25 July https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3paYBAUHflfbmN4OWVfTEgzTVE/view Latvia / Estonia / Finland: 20-23 July https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byr9RTMqvIWHV2t5ZzZjeHRjc1k/view

Great to see from all 4 camps ! The dates just don’t work for me so will refrain from voting/comment. I’m on a 4 night tour of Praha, Windischeschenbach and Munchen 12th to 16th July so no way ( in order to maintain diplomatic relations at home ) can I do any July dates for a beer trip. Wish you all the best !

And Leighton ... yes to a RBEWG.
We all had a great time in Bamberg on the unofficial one I threw together a few years back but I’d be keen to have one of these also and anyone who misses out with their proposal for the summer can easily adapt their schedules for this purpose.

How about a revisit of Bamberg? Or Cologne and Düsseldorf?

These sound amazing! Going through the proposals right now.

Two won’t work with my vacation, two will. Have voted for the one that sparked my interest the most. Very cool to see such nice proposals!

I’d love the Edinburgh proposal but I’ll be in Aberdeen for a couple of weeks in September, not July so I can’t vote. I’d love to make a RBESG!

Last year attendance was quite low, lots more people voted for the proposal than actually went. Also some people who said they would be there didn’t show up. Please respect all the hard work of organisers and don’t vore for proposals you will not attend.

I may have contributed a few ideas to the Baltic proposal, but surprisingly I’m not behind it. If I’m around, I’ll probably volunteer to lead the crawls, however, as I’ve done them a hundred times. Some of the Baltic prices look like over-estimates. For example: Getting from Tallinn to Helsinki can be as cheap as 20e: http://en.lindaline.ee/times-and-prices/groups/ http://www.sales.vikingline.com/en/find-cruise-trip/cruise/helsinki-tallinn/day-cruise-to-helsinki/ (Tallink should also beat the quoted price.) Accomodation in Helsinki will almost certainly be cheaper in one of the youth hostels: http://www.hostelacademica.fi/rooms/ (spacious student accomodation the rest of the year) http://www.eurohostel.eu/ (just a typical hostel) than in Omena. Both of those have the added benefit of including a morning traditional Finnish sauna in the price. Sweat out your toxins... Tallinn accomodation has lots of competition, so bargains are possible all over town. (And technically, I guess I can put a few people up, too, if I’m around.)
