RBESG will take place in Barcelona this year. The proposal: |
If possible, you might consider making the Grand Tasting the final event of the day on Saturday. |
Originally posted by Leighton GT usually takes about half a day or the entire evening ending quite late. Guess it all depends on who’s attending though. |
Originally posted by Leighton We can made it the final event or move it to sunday and make it the first event of the day. I was budgeting around 4 hours, if we make it the last or first event of the day, we can widen the limits. |
The GT is really best as the last or only event of a given day ... although numbers can also dictate this if say 10 or fewer people attending. |
Yeah, the GT is often the centrepiece of the whole event, so it’s good to give it adequate time. Total time for the tasting depends somewhat on numbers of people and beers, but I think five hours should be seen as a minimum. Keep in mind, people rate at different speeds, so if there’s not enough time folks will feel rushed and either a) won’t get to try all the beers or b) rush through the beers and get drunk - neither is ideal! For these reasons, it’s good to have the GT as the final event of the day. |
Anyone booked for this yet? I’ll probably explore flights in the coming week or so, to see if a trip would be at all feasible. If there’s anyone aiming to share a hotel room, post here! |
Originally posted by Leighton I’ve already checked flights and so far the dates and flight costs seem doable for me. Sharing a hotel room would be great. I have some work related stuff to sort out to make sure I can go though. When do you think you will be sure? |
Originally posted by Benzai I go on holiday on 12 May, so I’ll try to do some work on RBESG before then. I’ll try to get back to you by, say, 11 May. (If I don’t give me a reminder!) |
Originally posted by Leighton Ok. Then, GT will be the last event of Saturday. We won’t be going to Abirradero and Jazz. I’ll move it to Sunday. |
I made one of those free cancellation reservations on booking.com as soon as Barcelona was announced, a place called Hostal Delfos which seemed to be the cheapest option for a private single room at the time. Booking from Thursday leaving Monday. Don’t know the city but it doesn’t seem like it’s far out of the central tourist stuff. |
