Anyone has any ideas for this?
Usually a great event, and Id love to attend if it works out with holidays.

Looking forward to the proposals. London 2014 and Copenhagen/Malmö 2015 were both great - looking forward to making it 3 in a row if dates/location/holidays/wife permit ;)

Would love to make it to one of these without having to take an aeroplane.

Berlin sees new bar, brewery and brewpub openings almost on a weekly basis now. Plus 2016 will be the return of the Berliner Weisse and Stone will start canning in summer.

Berlin would be a great meeting ground for Scandinavians and the hords of new Polish raters, as well as the large regionally scattered German base.

We’d only need an upsurge of local & expat Ratebeerians for a firm organisational base in da Capital...

I think Berlin would be a great place to do this, for the reasons mentioned above!

Bump + question: how does the "organising committee" for this usually form? Is there a hardcore of volunteers in regional chapters?

I’d be interested in looking into the logistical possibilities for Berlin/DE and will be on quite a few festivals this year where I could talk to brewers.
P.S. SinH4: say hello at Braukunst Live this weekend

If you want to put forward a proposal for a city you should perhaps put together a rough plan yourself and speak to local ratebeerians or ask for help etc.

You need to consider active local usership, a suitable venue for a grand tasting and visits to bars/brewpubs for a couple of days over the weekend.

Typical format is Thursday night welcome dinner/drinks.

Friday ... pub crawl and brewpub / brewery visits.

Saturday ... A bit more of the same and a grand tasting.

Format is fluid. Last years grand tasting was on the Sunday.

One thing to bear in mind is that most folks like to rate beers so more than one brewery tour is likely one too many.

You need to have enough decent venues to fill up a couple of days worth bar hopping

Thanks for those helpful pointers.

I’m at the diametrical opposite end of the country, but can imagine helping to set this up for Berlin as soon as a few locals feel like jumping in.

Going by the latest "Visiting Berlin" threads, it seems that quite a few UK, Scandinavia and US Ratebeerians have come to know the new Berlin scene better than many German members and might want to assist.

Having a RB gathering in the burgeoning capital of Reinheitsgebotland (nevermind the Munich Taliban) in the year of its 500th Jubilee seems like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

So...expect a separate "Berlin for RBESG" thread as soon as the Braukunst Live is over.

Berlin would be cool for an RBESG. I’ve not been there since around 2011, and I gather the scene has changed a lot. Depending on timing, I would be interested in attending.

Perhaps just hold off on a ’Berlin for RBESG thread’. Rather than that type of campaigning, we normally will have a ’call for proposals’, at which point anyone interested in putting forward their proposal may do so. This keeps things a bit ’cleaner’ and more organised. Basically, you should write out your proposal with as much detail as you can, so that when you submit it RBians can read through it and get an idea for what the weekend would be like. If it’s a great proposal, you would be more likely to garner votes when we come to the voting stage.

Here are the two proposals from last year (Copenhagen/Malmo ended up winning the vote):

Copenhagen/Malmo: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10BeZwW4EoL5QtIH8MEE7FBHNQlmRdjYDbVdClexpocU/edit

Gothenburg: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xMeIjIQPvfKEEQ_0bcT5d4vDcc3xJT8iUlDkfb9XN30/edit

I sort of moderated the whole proposal and voting process for RBESG last year, and I’d be happy to do it again unless anyone has any objections.

Given that the US has already kicked off their process for the US RBSG, I reckon we could kick it off for Europe as well.
