Ok. I had this beer in a McMullens pub: Rivertown Invictus at 3.8%. Handpull cask. I’ve searched for info about the brewery to no avail... Except their Twitter says they’re in Hertford. Same as McMullens.

I then noticed that the Imperial IPA (5.8%, bless) is an alias of McMullens of the same name... So I’m wondering if Invictus is the same as their Cask Ale (also 3.8%).

I want to rate this execrable sulphur bomb. What should I do?

It’s McMullen’s in-house micro kit. I see no evidence that it’s the same as their Cask Ale so add it. I can’t see any reason why they’d want to use their micro kit to produce one of their regular beers that’s in permanent production on their main kit.

I’d say the alias for the Imperial IPA is the wrong way round. It was at Manchester Beer Festival in January as McMullens Imperial IPA but with a hand written pump clip. Most of the proper branding for it seems to be under the Rivertown name.
