Shiga Kogen Ichiro Malt Set

How many beers has Shiga Kogen aged in Ichiro’s Malt barrels? This morning, I got an unexpected box of beers with the newly released Takashi beers. I want to make sure I got the full set before I open them all at once for a tasting.

Isseki Sancho was a BA version of their Isseki Niccho collaboration with Dieu du Ciel released in 2016 but none ever made it into bottles as far as I know. It may turn up suddenly at some point in the future in bottles though.

A far as bottles go for Ichiro Malt BA beers, I think only Far East also made it into bottles, though 1) Good luck finding that 2)Even if you did, not sure it would be the best condition.

I actually got two of each bottle this time around, but gave it all away in trades to people overseas. I am sure they will do this beer again, so good to spread the love abroad.

Tim, in his photo he has Far East, the two Masajis and the two Takashis ;) I got an order in for three sets and they’ll all pretty much wind up abroad I’m guessing.

Share the wealth but also overseas traders usually just want sours and BA stuff which Japan makes very little of so...

Kinda strange that we push this stuff overseas, but good to get more exposure to top Japanese beer overseas.

In conclusion, those 5 are the only Ichiro’s Malt releases by Shiga Kogen then. Cool. I will try to open them next week.

I’ve never had any of their BA beers but I’m sure they’ll be great. I’ve been fairly impressed with Shiga Kogen so far.

I guess I will wait until I get a hold of this one.
