Yes, there are a few exceptions such as the 3 Brewers brewpub on Younge street

Dude, that is THE WORST thing you could have possible said if you wanted to have any credibility whatsoever.
Don’t like it? Don’t go back. They won’t miss you, and you’ll be far less aggravated.
Volo and BB are great stops no matter where you are from. I could agree with you about prices. Some of the bottles at those places are priced way too high.......but guess what? Nobody is forcing you to buy ’em.

I wasn’t in Toronto by choice, and will probably have to return in the future. I’m just saying... you guys keep touting Volo and BeerBistro as the go to spots. Is that it? 2 pubs in a city with a metro area of 5 million people? Ok, maybe I’m missing something here but I don’t see how that makes it a great or even adequate city for beer. What happens when you want to enjoy a good beer at home (or hotel room)? Can’t take a growler home from a bar (bartender says its the law that they have to open beers before they serve them to you). Do you just suck it up and go to the LCBO and pay $12 for a 6 pack of Alexander Keith’s IPA? Or maybe Sleeman Clear? It’s not like you have a Wegmans there.

How so? I though that their beers were better than almost anything you can get at the LCBO, and better that 99% of what is on tap at all the other bars in the city. You want to tell me that Labatt Blue, Molson, Bud are better?

Well these are separate issues. You can’t blame the city of Toronto for provincial laws.
As for growlers, well it is a separate license. The Granite Brewery in Toronto does sell growlers to take home as well as beer to drink while you are there.
As for the 2 great places in a metro of 5 million people, well.....I can’t argue with your thoughts there. Though I really think there are a few other great spots in the city. Did you get to C’est What? They have a lot of Ontario draught. I’d go there before BB.

The 3 brewers makes boring beer. Sure its well made, but I think you should have checked out The Granite. They make a nice Barleywine and a nice IPA.

As for your LCBO gripes, you won’t find many people here who disagree with you. Though your comment on the $12.00 for Keith’s or SLeeman Cleaer, while true, is a bit silly.
The LCBO does carry Southern Tier, Anchor Steam, DFH 60 Min, Sam Adams, Victory Prima Pils, and many more great beers in 6 pack format. Sure the selection is far from great, but there are other things available.

If you live in Toronto, how do you put up with the lack of selection, insane prices and very few stores from which to buy beer?

The LCBO problem is a provincial issue. It’s no different than a state where you can only buy beer at state controlled stores except that I do admit the selection can be a bit lacking. However I assume you did not make it to Volo, Beer Bistro, or C’est What? because there is good beer to be found in Toronto without much work.

this post could have read....

"Im really dissapointed in the beer selection that I found while in Toronto. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for your help! "

Instead we get shawn, being an idiot as usual. Dont offer him any more advise guys. Shawn the next time you come to Toronto pack yourself a couple 4packs of DFH olde school, thats your session beer of choice right?

I think a better way to answer this, would have been ....." yes, you are right about Toronto’s beer scene, but at least we are going to kick your ass all over the place on Sunday night"
