A couple of new BIPs: Alloy in Coon Rapids in the north metro (hat tip to HammsMeASAP at the other site) and Back Channel in Mound in the west metro (hat tip to Chaz at the other site).

Bold declaration. Makes me nervous. No way can they plan for huge crowds. I’m curious to see how long the 10 beers thing lasts.

JakeJohnson at the other site reports that Back Channel actually plans to open in Spring Park, not Mound. It supposedly already has a site and, writes Jake, "I heard they are hoping to be open this year, which sounds unrealistic." I agree with that assessment, but it seems that Back Channel may be further along than most BIPs are at the time their plans first reach the public.

Bald Man, a BIP (brewery and taproom) in Eagan, seems to be getting close to opening. It tweeted yesterday, "Opening date announced later this week..." The south metro has all too few breweries and all too fewer good ones; here’s hoping that Bald Man finally gives the area a brewery of which to be proud. That said, Badger Hill can make some pretty good beer, and Nutmeg is on the upswing; I don’t want to overstate the case against south metro breweries. Bald Man is located just off of Hwys 77 and 13, a superb location for a brewery, in my opinion, central to Eagan (population 65 thousand), Burnsville (61 thousand), Apple Valley (50 thousand), and Bloomington (86 thousand). Those four suburbs collectively have a population approaching that of St. Paul yet, as of this writing, contain only 1.5 open breweries (Nutmeg and Granite City Eagan), both of them brewpubs. In addition, I’m aware of only two possible additional BIPs in that area, Cedar Grove (apparently long dormant) and 8th Hour (believed to be a homebrewer with dreams of but not necessarily concrete plans for going pro).

Howling Pooch, a BIP in Shakopee, is now an "indefinitely delayed dream," according to its Twitter. Hat tips to writerwithwrywit and Chaz at the other site.

Roets Jordan, a BIP in Jordan, Facebook, 8-11-16: "The Taproom and Biergarten are now finished... We are working through the final steps of the licensing process over the next few weeks that will allow us to fire up the Brewhouse and brew the first beer made in Jordan since 1949!"
