What’s happening in the Twin Cities?

Use this thread to share general info on any events and tappings that may interest other local ratebeerians.

To kick things back off:
- Steel Toe’s 5th birthday party is this Saturday at the brewery. I haven’t seen a beer list posted anywhere.
- Summer Dabbler is taking place in St Paul this Saturday.

Kazbek Keller is back at Fair State. If you’re not excited, you need to get a palate.

That wasn’t on the web site when I checked at 4:55, I would have detoured on my way home.

Deschutes Brewery’s "Street Pub" returns to the North Loop in Minneapolis on Saturday, 9-10-16: http://www.einnews.com/pr_news/340588202/deschutes-brewery-s-street-pub-sets-up-shop-in-the-twin-cities

The always fun Autumn Brew Review is on Saturday, 9-17-16. It’s still just $50 even with the service fee, and it’s still, somehow, not sold out as of this writing. I’ve recently noticed that beer festivals seem not to be selling out as quickly as they did a few years ago, even the ones that haven’t raised their prices, at least in Minnesota. I’m speculating that the cause is greater competition in the form of more festivals and perhaps that the ubiquity of taprooms has reduced the novelty of getting uncommon beers directly from brewery representatives. I do wonder, however, if the general public may be starting to burn out on craft beer. http://www.ratebeer.com/event/48969/autumn-brew-review/

My guess is not that people are burning out, but rather that the novelty is wearing off. Craft beer is definitely here to stay and still has a lot of market share to claim, but you can only attend so many beer festivals before they start getting repetitive. Similar thing with brewery tours. Beer is made generally the same way at every brewery in their shiny stainless vessels - unless you’re bringing something completely novel to the table, it’s just not that new anymore.

tl;dr - craft beer is going mainstream in Minnesota

Thornbridge Hall Bracia is around, but spendy. Haven’t tried it yet.

Foragerfest takes place September 10th and includes a sour tap takeover. In case you haven’t heard... Forager is killing it.
