Message DuffMan beers 10981 º places 349 º 12:10 Wed 3/13/2013 I just got chastised in a beermail from a brewmaster (small American brewery, employs 12 people) who was unhappy about my rating for one of his beers. His opening address was "Hey numbnuts" (very professional), and then went on to tell me how the beer in question has won awards and blah blah blah. I responded (rather nastily), then found out that he joined RB today SPECIFICALLY to send me his stern message. Has this happened to anyone else? Just curious.

Either way, your rating, while lower, seems to be in line with the previous ratings. On the other hand, most people on this site wouldn’t know a good lager if it sat on their head.

Message brokensail P admin beers 21480 º places 1691 º 12:22 Wed 3/13/2013 I’ve had brewers contact me before, yes, but typically they’ve been cordial. Although one insisted I tried the wrong beer. Even though it was clearly labeled, it was at a very reputable bar, and I’d previously and somewhat recently tried the beer he said I had. In a sense, I think it’s good that brewers check the ratings on sites like RateBeer. But if you’re going to take things personally and attack/harass people who are rating your beers, that’s garbage. Of course, I could probably also use some more tact when it comes to certain ratings (of particularly unenjoyable beers).

Didn’t mean to come across as "proud". Just stating the facts. Right or wrong, if you contact me privately to insult me, chastise me, then boast about your product and company, you get what you deserve. If he bothered to look further, he would see that I actually am fairly complementary toward several of his other brews.
