I was updating some Ohio brewery info today and decided to start keeping a list of all the breweries currently in development. I’m sure I’m missing a few, but here are 11 currently in the works (with their location, a note, and my best guess at opening based on available info):

Lucky Owl Brewing - Bainbridge Township/Chagrin Falls - First beer released at a bar on 4/16/15, but no phone, address, or email. Will enter when info is available.

Earlybird Brewing - Cleveland - Brewing first batch as of 5/14/15. No address, phone, email, or official launch date. Early Summer?

Fibonacci Brewing Company - Mt. Healthy - Licenses approved, first batch ready to start. Opening date TBA by early June.

Restoration Brew Worx - Delaware - Social media has been relatively quiet this spring. Summer?

Devil’s Kettle Brewing - Athens - Licenses approved. Build-out nearing completion. Opening by Ohio Brew Week (July 10-18).

Little Fish Brewing Company - Athens - Earlier in build-out process than Devil’s Kettle, but hope to have some beer available in time for Ohio Brew Week (July 10-18). Place might not be open by then, though.

Scenic Brewing Company - North Canton - Currently in build-out phase. No launch date yet. Mid-late summer?

Multiple Brewing Company - Nelsonville - Not sure if any OBW presence. Expected launch in late August.

Forest City Brewery - Cleveland - Have started to appear at events. Renovations underway. Late summer?

North River Brewing Company - Wauseon - Build-out phase. No launch date yet. Late summer?

Ferndock Brewing Company - Sandusky - Currently in Platform’s incubator program. Seem to have a good handle on the business side of things. 2016?

If I’m missing any, please add below!

For those interested:

Devil’s Kettle has its grand opening this Saturday.

Forest City’s place is still a few months out, but they’re pouring at festivals and other events.

Restoration Brew Worx had a soft opening this past weekend and opens to the public today.

Updated list below. If anyone has any news about these or other Ohio breweries in the works, please let me know. Thanks!

Lake Erie Island Microbrewery - Middle Bass - Last time I called, they expected to have LEI brewing this year, but I haven’t been able to confirm.

North River Brewing Company - Wauseon - Opening 10/24/15.

The Woodburn Brewery - Cincinnati - Pouring test batches at special events. Had targeted September, but now probably mid-winter.

Chops & Hops Brew Haus - Bellefontaine - Closed June 2nd to retool food and prepare beer recipes. Reopening in the fall as a brewpub.

Municipal Brew Works - Hamilton - Targeting fall launch. No updates lately.

Multiple Brewing Company - Nelsonville - Wanted to launch in late August but has been quiet lately.

Crooked Handle Brewing Co. - Springboro - Currently in build-out phase. Targeting mid-November. Might be later in winter.

Swine City Brewing - Fairfield - Not sure on timeline.

Nine Giant Brewing - Cincinnati - Originally targeted September, now looking like early 2016.

Kindred Artisan Ales - Gahanna - No launch date yet.

Ferndock Brewing Company - Sandusky - Spent time in Platform’s brewery incubator program. Sometime in 2016?

Six String Brew Works - Cincinnati - No timeline yet. I think they have a building.

Line 21 Brewing - Cincinnati - a.k.a. Bridgetown Brew Works, a.k.a. Westwood Brewing. Still raising funds. No timeline.

Three Beards Brewing - Milford - Some teases on social media, but looks like a long-term dream project. No timeline.

Are Octavius and LaCoe still pursuing opening their doors? I know Six Feet Deep is, unfortunately, six feet under.

LaCoe has a Facebook page that hasn’t had any posts since March: https://www.facebook.com/LaCoe-Brewing-610341465767399/timeline/

Never heard of Octavius, nor can I find any info on it.

Same for Six Feet Deep, although I guess if that one is not going to open anyway, it doesn’t matter.

The last post on Octavius’ Facebook page was on 10/14/2014. In response to a question asking if Octavius was an open brewery, the main guy replied no, he was still a homebrewer with a dream. Absent any information from any other source, I will assume that’s still the situation.

Six Feet Deep’s Facebook page is still up. It says it’s permanently closed.

They just posted on facebook that due to "issues" with their architect and the city of Cincinnati, they will not be using the building on Harrison Avenue and are looking for a new location.

I would like to think this is good for them in the long run, since I didn’t think much of the location they’re leaving. But while I know that setbacks and delays are common when getting a new brewery started, they have had so many that I have to wonder if they ever will open. I hate to say that but it’s certainly possible they’ll have to abandon the project. Tap and Screw had an easier time opening their doors because the owners had an existing business in their own building. Starting a brewery from scratch is much more difficult.

Interesting. Thanks for the update. I hope this doesn’t lead to (yet another) name change, although I guess that part wouldn’t be that big of a deal at this point.

It sure is an uphill battle, especially if you don’t have big money to start with.

I don’t understand why they don’t post to their "Line-21" page... they keep posting on Bridgetown Brew Works. Maybe some brand confusion?
