I’ll be in Vancouver for job interviews July 4th, looking to finish the day off with some beer. Will probably stay at a hotel downtown.
Any recommendations of newish places worth visiting? Or anyone up for a drink or two? Last time I was out for beer in Vancouver was probably 5 years ago.

you will hardly find the places that were around 5 years ago ;-)

I’ll send something more accurate later.
Did you already move to BC?

7 breweries existing in Vancouver pre-2012 and still open:
Dockside Brewing Co.
Granville Island
Pat’s Pub & Brew House
R & B Brewing Company
Steamworks Brewing Co.
Yaletown Brewing Co.
Storm Brewing Ltd (BC)

41 breweries opened since then (counting from Persephone to Four Winds to Twin Sails), and more if you extend to Surrey, Langley and Abbotsford.

So yes, you’ll have some catching up on your way ;-)

There are 3 walkable classic tours.

Mt. Pleasant
Right now it’s the weakest tour, some decent brewery (Brassneck), hit-or-miss breweries (Main Street, 33 Acres), miss breweries (Faculty, Red Truck, Big Rock), bars (12 Kings, Craft Beer), shops (Legacy)

East Van
This is the richest and most fun; with Boombox stopping their year contract right now, we don’t know if there will be a valid replacement for hoppybeers, but the Callister incubator is an interesting concept; Parallel 49 upped their game and offer 35 beers on tap; Luppolo and Powell are generally quite good; Strange Fellows is hyped and not so good IMO (hit or miss; their Saison game is very lame), Bomber is hit or miss but at least they have an Imperial Stout and Imperial IPA on tap; then there is Andina and Storm. Off the Rail and Strathcona are a miss. Superflux brews in this area but you’ll rather get their beers from cans or on tap in bars.

Port Moody
Easily reachable with skytrain, 4 breweries almost next door one to the other.
Twin Sails has been brewing very good East Coast IPAs in the last few months; Yellow Dog is usually good. Parkside and Moody Ales just for the ticks.
Easy rule: on the brewer’s row, best to worst, east to west ;-)

For the bars, 12 Kings is an interesting addition to the city but short taplist, the rest is not new.
Alibi Room and St. Augustine’s have their taplist online, so just look it up and make your decision; Alibi Room is crazy expensive btw.
