Can’t believe I forgot to review this place. Were in Vienna for just 3 days, went here 3 times. Near the Opera house, a good chunk of outdoor seating, and a nice, cozy (always packed) indoor area. Hop Devil in Viena was a little surreal, but my palate welcomed it. Food and service were both great. Outdoor has extendable awnings that were a HUGE bonus when it utterly poured sheets of rain for a couple of hours.
Think of all places visited on this trip to Vienna this would be my favorite. Crowded, decent beer list and good food. Nice service. Only surprised of the smoking, but that seemed to be standard in Austria - strange. Tasted few brews, see score. Recommendable, but crowded.
First out of 10 places visited in Vienna. This brewpub is for sure known ! much visitors, at the random weekday we passed by. The beers were OK, though I wouldn’t call the Gose ’sour’ by far, even though the bartender at work warned me about it being ’ extremely sour’ . i’ll let that one slip, it’s all a matter of perspective, i’m sure, rather than unknowingness. The bartender himself was the most basic form of friendly. terrible tapper though( texting wile pouring a beer, seriously ? ) and completely uninterested in doing anything else than the very basic aspects of the job. However, we’ve had worse. The prices are agreeable. i do miss a tasting pallet in a place like this. unfortunately, smoking is allowed, making this a very un-beergeeky place to visit. The tradition seems to be quantity over quality. This translates in everything in this pub. Looks like an irish pub of the worst kind. Loud football, heavy drinkin’. Nothing really showed ’ quality’ or passion here. Too bad. Even though the beers weren’t crap, we stayed as short of a time as we could. Also, the toilets were completely broken and flooded, with no-one caring to repair them.
Nice brewpub in Vienna. Quite large selection, kind staff and all beers i tried were very good. Food was good but expensive imo. At lunch time was rather quiet, several tourists hanged in there. Had a good time, will be back for sure.
Decent brewpub with a nice outdoor seating area (a thick hedge separates you from the road) and a decent selection of own brewed craft beers. They have 5 normal taps, and 5 that rotate amongst their own seasonal fare. Had an IPA and a gose, both of which were fine. Service was prompt and not unfriendly.
