For me perfect brewpub in Vienna. Not so cheap, but great beers, food and service and also very nice place.

7 Stern is a fairly large brew-pub located but a short walk from the museum quarter. The atmosphere at lunch-time was bustling. They had a wide selection of their house beers (about 10) including a seasonal bock. The food is traditional Austrian. Staff spoke good English. They also have an amazing beer vending machine to take away their beers! Nice place, but many of the beers are pretty so-so. Nonetheless a worthy beer stop in Vienna.

Visited late afternoon on a Sunday in August 2012 {during the Austrian summer holiday period, so business was likely slower than usual}. This brew pub is a fairly large, multi-room facility with the kind of decor that serious beer lovers and home brewers will enjoy. There’s plenty of visual interest on the walls and elsewhere, mostly related to beer and brewing. Objects of interest start on the passage in from the street where a beer vending machine (flaschenautomat) is located. The rooms vary in size and include an outside courtyard biergarten, The main bar features a glass dome with about 20 seats arranged on 3 sides of a lovely pair of copper brew tanks. The main brewing operation is visible through glass windows on the wall of the rearmost (past the biergarten) dining area. Nice WC. Newspapers are available on sticks, like in many European cafes. I didn’t eat much but did carefully inspect the menu and saw some foods being served to others. My conclusion is that the food is above average in quality, fairly priced, and notably more creative and diverse than one may expect. An English menu is available, although it was not complete. Lunch and daily specials are available. By Austrian standards, the beer menu is wildly creative. The offerings included a hemp (hanf) beer, a Bamberger rauch beer, a chili beer, a dunkle, a marzen, an IPA and, perhaps, one other beer. Some interesting seasonals (e.g., bocks) were on the menu although not available during my visit. No beer flights available but the server graciously provided small samples of a couple of their beers before I ordered. Beer is available to go in .5L bottles as well as in 1L and 5L containers. The location is up hill outside the Museum district. By foot, the brewpub is about 8-10 away and well worth the walk. The trip will transport you out of the bustling tourist area into a relaxing haven for food and drink.

Huge place with moderately, but nicely decorated interior. Standard German style beers, but always big variety of them, at least one seasonal. Mostly greatly executed as well. Did not try the food, so I feel like underrating it, but seemed good from menu. Not cheap but for very good beers worth every penny. My favorite beerplace in the city. +1 overall for bottle machine at the doors. Very smart!

Classic wood panelled pub/beer hall, pretty large. Lots of house beers, both well made classics and silly novelty beers

Cozy surroundings. Fast and fine service. Large variety of beers with a decent/mediocre standard. One of the better in Vienna.

Our last visit during RBESG’12 Vienna brewpubcrawl. Nice brewpub with quite a lot of different beers, all at least decent. Nice atmosphere, nice interior, nice beers.

Great looking bar with the big brewing installation in the middle. Was fairly busy here. Service was speedy. There own brews range from disgusting (chilli bear) to very tasty (IPA) and are of fine quality. The craft beer vending machine is a fun invention. Good brewpub overall.

With the RBESG crowd. Been here in December, but didn’t go past the beer vending machine. Cool brewpub, doing the styles they do great in general. Good service, good atmosphere. Attentive service, but it wasn’t full and we were a big group.

Nice to see a place trying some different styles here. It was busy when we were there and the service was horrible. Sat with empty glasses for 15 minutes every time. Food was good.. They had a beer vending machine outside which we should have used to get our beers.
