I visited this place on July 4th. This is located within a fucking mall. I HATE malls. Anyway, this place was dark and had a big C-shaped bar with several other tables around. They had about 16-20 beers on tap, with nothing specifically rare. The only thing I was in the mood for was Hottenroth Berliner Weisse, but alas, it was no longer on tap, despite the menu. They have a lot of bottles, none of which cannot be found at my local bottle shoppe, with the exception that the bottles are all marked up 100%. I didn’t have any food, and I just don’t see why this place is rated so highly. There are so many other better places in Reno to get good beer...and it doesn’t involve going to a fucking mall, either.
Funny to see the fanboys 100 point reviews. I’m sure their service was great, as they were getting chatted up at the bar while the wait staff generally ignored anyone who wasn’t in there ALL the time.
Gave them several chances (probably visited 9-10 times). Had horrible service far more than good. The beer menu was usually inacurate to the point of laughable. The food was solid and prices middling. I had sworn them off long before they went out of business. Too bad too, as I wanted this to be THE place to go for a beer, or a game.
Stopped by after reading about it here. Bottle list was impressive for anywhere (lots of Shelton Bros.) and draft was diverse and obviously selective.
The bartenders seemed knowledgeable but didn’t have much interaction with them (there was a local yokel half-drunk and loudly bragging about his recent trip to Russian River who was taking up a lot of attention).
Food was good, service was quick.
All in all, awesome atmosphere and great place but so out of place being in an old mall. Literally, next door to JC Penney.
One of the best places I have found in Reno. Great food. Great selection of beers. The staff is friendly and helpful. It never gets too noisy for when you want to kick back and talk and enjoy some quality beers.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. The Gastropub has the best beer selection in Reno. Everything is served properly and all the draft beers are $6 per glass, appropriately served. The selection is something you’d find at the finest pubs in the world. With rotating excellent tap selections from some of the finest craft brewers around the world, some things difficult to find no matter where you are. This is a beer lover’s dream in Reno. To top it off, the food is excellent and the service is outstanding as well. The owner and servers know the beer they are serving you.
