Yesterday I finally made it to the rising star of the Belgian beer scene: Deconinck. Close to Kortrijk, in a small village called Vichte, you’ll find everything you were told. Very large shop with everything (not only their beers, also the gin, sodas...) very well organised and beautifully presented. The selection of Belgians was really good (Struise, Alvinne, DOM, de la Senne, smaller unknown breweries...) and even their lambic department is more then OK, they have almost all the authentic lambic brewers/gueuze blenders. It is however the selection of foreign beers that really blows your mind! Mikkeller, BrewDog, De Molen, Jopen... even some Almanac, The Bruery, Lost Abbey... really incredible. A job well done. The prices were more then OK, along the line with Geers, but I think just a tad more expensive then DeCaigny (selection is more impressive here though). Service then was very very friendly. You really can feel the passion these two people have for their job AND for the beer. They are doing a great job and I hope they continue to work with the same energy and enthousiasm for many more years to come. Overall this is a really impressive beer shop. Get your asses overthere and buy some awesome beers!! Update: best shop in the world!

Our first visit to here was Friday 27th April 2018 (payday fortunately) and Wow, just wow. We'll arrived at 11:15 so only had 45 minutes before they closed for lunch. Bierhalle Deconinck can be found next to a Delhaize on Bosstraat in Vichte which is just a few miles NE of Kortrijk.

From the outside it looks square. , concretey, functional and grey. However who cares for the outside, I'd rather be inside a beer store. There is is plenty of parking and trolleys outside. Inside its big, as you enter there is a bottle, crate deposit sorting area off to the right hand side with staff and machinery to assist. Then very long aisles that run the length of the store, wow (again) this really is a small/mid sized supermarket sized place dedicated to drink.

The first aisle (and remember I'm in a rush so might have missed something) is all soft drinks. The bottom of the store seems to be mostly Belgian beers with plenty of Geuze and Lambic including quite a few rarities. Off to the side of this there are many imports, lots of American, Scandinavian, UK and the rest of Continental Europe with some great breweries and excellent pricing, I have to say on such a short window and faced with so many beers it was actually a little stressful. We picked up new beers (for us) from Laugar, Hopping Frog, Perennial, Siphon, Alesmith etc. The choice was mind blowing. When finished we got chatting to one of the owners who discreetly wandered off and came back with 6 glasses for us including 4 trappists, so kind of them. I love Dranken Vande Woude and Dranken Geers and will always visit them but this is right up there now for me, superb.

Large beer (and some other beverages) supermarket close to Kortrijk. Right at the door you find a glass closet with some bottle for exhibition (we saw some spanish micros, wow!) that may prevent you from thinking this is gonna be another warehouse stocked with the usual belgian suspects. If you walk the alleys starting from the right side, the logical way as you enter, it may seem so, but soon the interesting stuff comes into scene. Go to the back of the store, and to le the left part, and you may find large quantities of good lambics, some of them hard to spot, lots of good american craft. Some spanish micros as well, surprisingly. All of them at really good prices. There are limitations on some bottles, as you can only take 1 or 2. We couldn´t resist to load our car with lots of bottles, so bear this in mind and have space left for it. This was our first visit, but for sure we´ll come back.

Large beer supermarket with an extremely wide selection range and cheap prices. Lots and lots of Belgian beers and an international section as well. Bring an empty car, you might want to get a bit more than you anticipated, once you see the selection and prices.

Visited during a Belgium beer trip after a tour at the Alvinne brewery which is close by. It is somewhat more like a supermarket, thus you ask less for advice and opinions like in the usual bottleshop. The selection is amazing and huge. Lots of good lambic but also imported beers at good prices. At the register, the staff was friendly and helpfully providing cardboard boxes for the ~4 boxes of mixed bottle beers I bought. They have limits by car on certain sought after de Cam and 3 Fonteinen bottles (for obviously good reasons). Would recommend and go there again!

Huge, spic-and-span drinks market with lots of big bottles, indie beers, and patience for foreigners buying mixed crates. They also sell small and large containers of those great Belgian bar snacks (nuts, crackers, etc.). Also a growler-filler, not yet in operation when I saw it a few months ago but probably on line by now. Some of the most sought-after geek stuff was on the high side, but that just means they know their market.

Visited both days during ACBF2017. Seems they were well prepared for hordes of beer geeks because the place was fully stocked. Not many empty shelves even on second day of the festival. Was pleasantly surprised there were no bigger queues, efficient service. Selection is extensive. Lots of Belgians stuff, special lambic shelf, some brews which I haven’t seen anywhere. Also very good imported selection - Scandinavian, UK, US. Great prices, especially for local stuff. Well worth visiting.
