Another small, hip place in OTR’s restaurant row on Vine, A Tavola is known for their Neopolitan-style pizzas, which are very good. The place is small, like Bakersfield and Senate, and pretty tight. Not the most relaxing atmosphere. Hard-working staff. The beer selection isn’t big, but there’s some rotating local stuff, some national brands that aren’t prominent elsewhere in town, so you might wind up seeing a few unexpected things. Be prepared to wait on the weekends, and some weeknights get busy, as well. About a buck or so higher than what you’d pay at most bars around town, but in line with the neighborhood. Solid place, but not my first choice for beer around here.

A Tavola is one of the newest restaurants in the now flourishing Gateway Quarter of Cincinnati’s historic Over-The-Rhine neighborhood. Having visited on three different occasions it’s clear that they focus on craft cocktails (featuring their excellent house-made ginger beer) before their beer selection. They have 8 taps, 3 of which are devoted to Guinness, Stella, and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel. There’s usually a decent Pale Ale or IPA (e.g. Lost Coast Indica), as well as a milder malt-foward beer. Bottle list is good and should provide something good if the tap list is lacking. The food has been phenomenal, focusing on pizza made in their incredible wood-fired oven imported from Naples. Prices are fair, and service is usually friendly and attentive. Recommended especially for the food. Also, The Lackman is right across the street.
