I’ve been to Lake George several times before but my recent visit was the first time I checked this place out. It has a bit of a rustic look with a modern twist. A large outdoor area has plenty of seating under an enclosed area as well as a section if you want to get some sun. Indoor seating is ample, with a bar area that’s surrounded by nooks with tables giving it a cool vibe. The wait staff at first seemed preoccupied with the reporter there doing a story on their recent expansion, which is understanding. They weren’t busy so my service was not at all lacking, and when given the opportunity, they offered some insight on my upcoming beer stops. I did not try the food this time, maybe next. I had three of their beers and while they weren’t mind blowing I thought they were quite good. Better than expected, actually. I think they had 10 or so different brews on tap and more in bottles. They had a nice selection of various styles - IPAs, Wheats, Stouts, a Brown, a Rye Pale, among others. I heard mention of a BA Triple they just bottled but didn’t grab any. Nice conversation at the bar with another craft beer fan. Great time.
Visited a couple of times while here on holiday. Loved the decor, very in keeping with the surrounding area’s rustic charm. 12 beers on tap with option for a (pre-selected 6 beer sampler for 9.99). Food was great, best Burger I had in Lake George.
Large rustic log building housing the pub and the brewery, with several levels of outside terraces as well. Enthusiastic staff and cheesy 80s music were waiting for us. They had 14 taps with 10 of them active when I visited. They have sampler set of 6 beers for $9.99, with 6 oz glasses. Unfortunately all the beers I tasted seemed to be hopped for too long, ending with very little flavor but lots of bitterness. They have a food menu as well, but I didn’t try anything.
This was the second time I had been here but first time this season.
A: The building itself has a great rustic decor from the exterior to interior. It is very warm and inviting with lots of decor that is pleasing to check out. The one problem with the place is that the only time they are open 7 days a week is during the summer when they are usually jammed packed during peak hours.
Q: Beer quality was decent, I have had several boring beers previously but quality seems to have picked up somewhat. It also seems they are doing a little more with creativity, barrel aging, expanding their arsenal.
S: I sat at the bar with 6 other patrons and it took 10 minutes to get acknowledged and served. One bartender to cover bar and pour drinks for dining area is a little much for one person. Thankfully, the guy working the bar area seemed to know about the beer but my previous visit was not the case.
S: They had 10 different beers on taps plus two beers in bottles that were barrel aged . The array of beers was nice and covered the gambit of styles, a good selection.
F: I had the Chicken Pablano which was okay just bland in flavor...had to ask for crushed red pepper to add some flavor. I remember my previous meal here being average too.
V: $5 pints, $6 120z bottles of barrel aged beers, average price for the greater area and the season.
Overall, a nice place to come and visit on occassion....but on occassion.
Been here a few times and get my growlers filled here. I've read the reviews that were under a 3.0 rating. Seems to be a theme regarding the ambience and service. Yes the decor is basic but it grabs the atmosphere of the surrounding nature. The service was and is great, friendly and attentive. I work in a restaurant, from manager to server, so I understand if a restaurant is busy, do not expect the attention from the staff you think you deserve. The busier the restaurant is the less attention and slower service you will get. Also, if a server is grumpy, imagine racing around to table to table trying to make every patron happy while you have not had a break all day, you are starving, and you have not been able to go to the bathroom for hours. I have not tried all the beers there, the ones I had drank do not taste the same to me. I suggest cleansing your palate before drinking a different style, lingering tastes can affect on your current drink. I love the IPA, crisp and refreshing. Fat Scotchman is good as is the Dirty Blonde and Bear Naked. Even the raspberry watermelon is decent.
After a weeklong camping trip in the Dak’s we stopped in here to have a good lunch and of course sample the microbrews. The place is done up real nice but despite the whole area being alive with tourism the place was mostly empty, should’ve been a sign. Had a good selection of beers so I figured I’d try the sampler, but it specifically excluded two brews of a particularly special style - A Barley Wine and something else that I really wanted to sample. Of the seven beers on the sampler, one was barely decent, the rest all pretty much tasted the same, mostly green (rushed) & watery. The food wasn’t terrible but nothing special at all either. The service was mostly inattentive and not very friendly. My first visit to this place was my last.
I was pleasently surprised when I stopped in. Enjoyed a number of samples out on there deck. In side had a rustic feel. Service was fine and server was able to answer my questions. Everything was well priced. Didn’t have the food. Worth a stop!
The atmosphere is nice enough. It has the appearance of an old log cabin. It’s a little rundown on the inside though. They have numerous menu items and signs on the tables are ou of date, which was aggravating. The service was friendly and attentive. The beers were certainly decent enough, and the food was actually good. The prices were pretty reasonable, especially for a tourist trap area. They have a reasonably priced gift shop where you can take some of their beers home, as well as some other things. Worth checking out if you are nearby.
Bit of a tourist trap for the area. Lake George has unfortunately become heavily trafficked in the summer time and people expect the comforts of home instead of the Adirondack experience. The beer was good and the food was good, but it was far too crowded to be enjoyable. The servers were over-worked and grouchy.
