Had the pleasure of visiting the brewery at their new address at Kirstinehøj 38B 2770 Kastrup with some nice people from the Danish Beer Enthusiasts Copenhagen. Had to walk a long way from the bus stop and if you think the street lamps will guide you think again. There are none. Well received by Mr. Papsø we had some tasters. Went upstairs and had some more before we saw the production and the stores. If you want to buy there beers you can still do it on Saturday mornings. We even got some sandwiches. On top of it all is Mr. Papsø, friendly and knows everything worthwhile knowing.

I’m perhaps not being fair, as my visit here was in September 2010, before the place even existed, so it doesn’t really echo what the place is now - if old ratings stop counting some day, I’ll be the first to mark this as such, but the story deserves to be here. Long story short, I was brought here by the one and only Papsoe, at the time not yet working for Amager, for a visit, before I was supposed to head from Copenhagen to Malmö. Henrik, Morten and Jacob lead me around the brewery, where stuff like the first ever batches of Evil Twin were in tanks or fermenting away, and I got to try several of them, and then they loaded me with some more (Rye King, the wonderful Black Nitro, Christianshavn Pale Ale, Citra Weiss, Fru Frederiksen, Double Black IPA, IPA...). It was cool to see the barrel aging room where they started experimenting with some unorthodox ones. We were getting ready to leave (or at least so I thought), but in came none other than Mikkel with a co-worker, who then took me to the warehouse he had at the brewery, loading me more than generously with more bottles (Burger & Bun Lager, Whisky and Peated editions of Black, Barrel Aged Texas Ranger, Cherry Alive and the Brewers United Belgian Stout I think). Aaand then they invited me to lunch with them (hot dogs I reckon). So, basically a royal treatment courtesy of Amager & Mikkeller. Let’s just say that along with other bottles (both fiulijns and those I got in the shops), and my 2-week’s-trip luggage, I had what, at least 40 kilos of stuff on me and could barely move with everything around. The day afterwards included the loss of one of the bottles, almost another, being screwed over unintentionally but markedly stupidly by co-travelers and a moronically assholeish "professional" at the train station info desk, having to buy a train ticket to Malmö, finding the others by accident etc. But who cares. This is perhaps one of my least objective place ratings ever, but damn if that wasn’t one of my best beer moments ever that happened here, at the Amager brewery...

Unit in an industrial estate that opens on Saturday mornings to sell bottles. Some can be taste from tap. Good selection of the brewery beers and some merchandise. Good prices and satisfactory service. Worth visiting if you want to buy Amager bottles but not a place to go to drink beer.

Dull place in an industrial neighbourhood, but the selection of Amager beers on tap and bottle is excellent. Prices are decent escpecially when they have some sort of special offer

Visited on 22/08/15. Located in an industrial estate Amager is a no frills tap room with a large selection of reasonably priced Amager beers. In addition to the beers there is a range of merchandise including an array of beer inspired mustards and hot sauces. Friendly service. Overall a solid set up but if you’re time is limited it’s a bit of a journey out of town so maybe skip it.

Catch the airport train and alight at Tarnby. Then it’s a 10 minute walk. They are only open on Saturday mornings. All their bottles are available to purchase. Highly recommended to go buy a few bottles and take them back to your hotel room as we did. The best beers brewed in Copenhagen. Some merchandise also for sale.
