Second stop of the day. This is a nice area. Over all a little quieter than most of the other parts of town I’ve been in. Amsterdam Tavern kind of looks like an Irish bar from the outside but it’s a nice little restaurant with a bit of patio seating. Maybe it IS an Irish bar but I didn’t catch much of the run down and dark and noisy atmosphere that usually accompany Irish bars. They’ve got a couple dozen taps and a decent percentage of that is junk. That said there were some good ones mixed in and I found a tick: Two Roads "Workman’s Comp" Saison. Aside from that they had some Blue Point, Captain Lawrence, and Brooklyn on tap along side Blue Moon, Ace Apple Cider, and Boddingtons.

The food was alright. The truffled grilled cheese that had gruyere and tomatoes in it was enjoyable but I’ve been ruined by better grilled cheese sandwiches. The better ones in recent memory have been at the Gordon Biersch in NOLA and at Common Table in Dallas.

Pretty decent beer bar. A bit cramped, but what isn’t in this part of town. Rotation of beers is pretty quick. Good food.

Really good "Irish" bar next to Columbia University. (Hail, alma mater.) Tons of craft on tap and plenty more in the bottle. Enjoyed Ommegang and Full Sail here.
