Great spot in central Munich, you just cannot miss it. Nice, old wood interior with old-fashioned benches and tables. It is just like a tourist would expect the Bavaria cliche. The place is crowded during the usual budy hours, but sometimes youíre lucky and get enough place. Nice patio during the warmer months. Selection of beer is -naturally- quite limited, there are only the Andechser beers plus three, four others. Like that place a lot, but I donít like so many people on one small bench.
Sat out in the sunshine, which was pleasant. Service was slow, as the staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than looking to see if my glass was empty. Selection is the Andechser beers, not a wide range.
OK spot - less ornate than most of the other large beer halls in town. The restaurant has a large patio as well as a covered smoking area. The walls are covered in amusing photos of the famous guests who have had a drink here. If the pictures are to be believed, apparently Joseph Ratzinger is a big fan of this place. The beer, as expected, was quite tasty. Prices werenít bad considering the location. Iíd drink here again.
Pretty nice spot in central Munich near Marienplatz. Of course their beers are good. Goes without saying. I found it loads of fun too, was there alone but met lots of locals and travelers. Service is decent and food is good Bavarian fare. Iíll be back.
We came here on 19.12.2015 on a Saturday evening during Christmas market time, therefore extremely busy. They have a smoker area, a kind of tent, outside. Inside very nicely and traditionally decorated also showing pictures from many celebrities, who visited this place. We got a table downstairs only for 15 min. We ordered a Helles and a Dunkles Weissbier, both excellent. Our service (Eastern European lady, not from Munich!) was very friendly. The general rule for restaurants in Munich Ė avoid the so unfriendly Munich personnel! Overall, although a touristic place, one of the better and more friendly ones in Munich and Andechser beers taste delicious, especially the Weissbiers.
Centrally located. Funny looking facade with Christmas decor. You can sit in an open dark porch like room where the bar is located. Indoor you will find another dark room and downstairs yet another not so dark room with long tables and benches. Quite cosy and the waiter was entertaining. Beers OK. We did not eat. Price level ok.
