I attempted to survive a day (before a concert in Cadogan Hall) as a "Sloane Ranger" (or does that expression apply only to women?), but I am afraid that both my age and attire disqualified me mercilessly. Anyway, The Antelope was the only decent pub I could find near Sloane Square, and it was definitely less Sloanie in character (at least in the quiet afternoon) than the restaurant I unashamedly dined in at Sloane Square afterwards. The kitchen at The Antelope was closed, as I visited after normal lunch hours. I started out with a gin & tonic. No new beers for me, but I had the Fuller's Red Fox (a bit soapy in the finish) and the ESB (which was fine). I asked if they had bottles of Golden Pride or Bengal Lancer, but to no avail. The bartenders were friendly enough though.

Visited many times over the years. Another handsome unspoilt back street Belgravia pub with an upmarket feel. It’s at the Sloane Square end of Belgravia so a little way from the other Belgravia pubs listed here but it’s easy and worthwhile (as long as you’re not looking for esoteric ticks) to combine them in a small crawl. If you’re new to London you’ll get a much better feel for what pubs used to be like than by sticking to the toristy places on the main drags. Just avoid the 5 o’clock rush if you want to sidestep the after work crowds. Nowadays this is a Fuller’s pub with the usual suspects on cask plus a couple of guests. Worth a visit.

I used to frequent the Antelope when I worked at Sloane Square. The pub is tucked away down a residential street just off the main square itself, so doesn’t tend to draw a big tourist crowd. It is pretty looking local pub which dates back to the 17th century. Inside is a U-shaped bar with a snug on the left hand side as you enter. The range is 5 cask ales (4 fullers and 1 guest), a few kegs and some bottles. Food is pretty nice and they offer some good pub snacks (e.g. sausage on a stick). Don’t expect a big range of new beers, but this is a fun pub to visit.

Went here after working at Chelsea Flower show. Had the full range of Fullers beers. Had the Chiswick and was in good form. Did not try the food but was available. A lovely pub and will go again. Nice place to unwind, good clean pub.
