A great shop with a more-than-decent range of unusual beers, not commonly found elsewhere in Edinburgh. The proprietor, Ashton, is very friendly, knowledgeable and keen to help. A very pleasant place to browse and pick up a few new friends! Also does frequent tastings - wine, beer and whisky.

Nice little bottle shop with a large, varied selection. Ash (the owner) is always extremely helpful. Also hosts regular, well-priced tastings.

Visited in August. Nice little shop that carries wine and bier. Great, knowledgeable girl that helped me navigate around Scottish stuff. Selection is not the greatest, but they do have an interesting selection of local craft, and not only Brewdog. I managed to leave with a couple of good bottles. Prices are very decent, definitely cheaper compared to London. Worth a visit, if youíre in the neighborhood.

My local shop, and a great one. Great selection of mainly Scottish, American and Belgian beers with more appearing every time I go in. Would love to see some more English beers making an appearance, the likes of Thornbridge and Kernel are near impossible to get up here, Iíll keep asking and hoping! Very friendly too, always up for a chat.

Thereís definitely an East-West split in Edinburgh when it comes to bottle shops. Over East thereís Cornelius, at Haymarket Appellation Wines. Run by the extremely enthusiastic Ashton, Appellation stocks maybe 100 beers Ė a good range of Scottish, American craft beer, and German labels. Gets the occasional rarer item in but due to space constraints the range doesnít very as much as Cornelius maybe. But the tastings held there and the helpful advice put it over the edge (plus itís closer to my flat). A bottle shop that stocks every beer by Fyne Ales and Highland canít be doing much wrong. Great range of wines too, if thatís your thing. Can be a little pricey though - but you certainly get what you pay for.

(Visited on Sunday 21/02/2016 Ė afternoon) this place was a little out of the way from our centrally located Hotel but visited to attend a tasting with fellow ratebeerians. Following the tasting I picked up a nice range of Scottish beer bottles to bring back for the CPH crew, the selection was pretty good but was informed their other sister store held allot more bottles at that time. Still worth visiting here though especially if combining a visit to the nearby Stockbridge Tap while heading back central.

A small shop near Haymarket in Edinburgh. Owner Ash is always up for a discussion of beers and gives good recommendations, especially on Scottish Beer. Very nice selection of Scottish Craft Beer and a good deal from around the world, especially the US. Less fun when Ash is not there. Has a good selection of Wines as well. Does tastings several times a month with visiting experts. Prices are in the high end, but that comes with the wide selection.

Of the three off licenses in Edinburgh (Appellation, Cornelius, Great Grogg), Appellation has a selection, both amount of craft beer and size of selection, that is either the best or close to it. Additionally, the shop has fortnightly beer tastings, offering customers the ability to taste new beers that have come in as well as introducing craft beer to newcomers. One may find that selection does not rotate quickly but there are perhaps 130 different beers to choose from in the shop.

If you think youíve found a 90+ bottle shop youíll be disappointed. Good range of Scottish beers, but many other places have these. Some USA bottles too. A few more unusual ones from around the world if youíre willing to pay above £5. Plus points for tastings that happen seemingly regularly, also for wine.

2014-07-09. Nice little shop with a good selection of Scottish beers and some imports. Picked up a few BrewDog beers and some other Scottish stuff. Cashier was friendly and recommended a few other local shops to potentially find beers we were looking for. I had heard of the places from Ratebeer she was suggesting which implies that she knows what she is talking about.) The store was a touch warm (I was sweating but had also just walked a fair ways to get there) so my preference would be bottles from the fridge. They had a good number of the older vintages of BrewDog AB beers but the prices were high enough that I opted to skip them without being able to check Ratebeer ratings first (my 3G access failed me in a time of need!). In fairness those are tough to find, as were some of the other pricier items. Other prices seemed more reasonable. Pretty good shop, but North American visitors may wish to lower their expectations if they are only visiting once as like any shop, inventory will vary depending on the day you go.
