This place is rather small, but they sure pack the craft beer in a small and tiny spot. Didn’t need any help so I’m not sure how knowledgeable they are of beer, but their selection was top notch. Their prices were reasonable.

OK place, was expecting a bit more. Very cramped with a decent selction. Not a lot of anything really. Lots of dusty, old import lagers. Some nice Belgians, but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, it was a ok store, I felt that it was kind of dumpy. Not sure why the ratings are so high as I was pretty disappointed.
Stopped in today to check out what was on the shelves. Saw here on ratebeer that they might have something I was looking for. They weren’t able to find it, but I did have three people on the case, and a call to the guy in charge to try and help. If I could give a higher score for customer service, I would. Selection was organized by brewery and very good, but not as good, I think, as the ratings here suggest. Still, some hard to find things, clean, and a very helpful staff.
Update: Upped my ratings because repeat visits keep turning up the treasures, like the first place to have FFF Brew Doo around here. The Bell’s selection is unrivaled amongst the places I’ve shopped. This place rocks! Will be a frequent shopper here.
Glad one of my beer buddies turned me on to Archer Liquors. Stopped by tonight on my way home from work. Things I’ve not seen anywhere else - Avery Mephostophelese and Bell’s Hell Hath No Fury as examples. The guy that owns / runs this place understands quality craft brews really well. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. Will return many times! Nice website and RSS feed so you can keep up to date with new brews coming in. Excellent. One awesome feature, you can take a single from any six pack - makes it SO much easier to sample something that you’re not quite sure about, without the anxiety of blowing money on a six pack to discover you just don’t like it.
Went straight there from Midway Airport. Being from Florida I was stoked to see Lost Abbey, Great Lakes, 3F, Goose Island, etc. Selection of Belgians was about as I get at home - very nice. Service was great. I asked about some season Great Lakes and Randy found some singles laying around. Overall, not sure about the value as I am from out of town and can’t get most of what I bought, but when I am in Chicago I will definitely check back here first.
This place is smaller than I had expected, but they’re selection is pretty decent. Aside from the mix and match singles, they also have some older beers I saw an 01 Rochefort 8 and got a 2008 Old Stock Ale. Decent prices too, most of the Belgians were the same price as the ones now on sale at Binny’s. Got some Weihenstephaner cheaper than I’ve seen anywhere else as well. A little out of my way, but worth a visit once in a while.

It took me a while to make my way down there but now that I have, I consider this a must stop for people making a beer trip to Chicago. It has one thing that is sorely lacking in the area: singles. You can mix and match six packs all the live long day. It is kind of cool. Normally when singles are offered, it’s select bottles only but you are allowed to snatch bottles out of any six pack here. Anyway, it’s been a while since I’ve been to a liquor store w/ a good singles selection and I felt like a kid in a candy store. This place is a corner store w/ a sort of food mart sort of vibe but the selection is great, I’d say about half or a little more of the amount of stuff they stock at Binny’s which is nothing to sneeze at. Like, if Binny’s had four beers from a given micro, these guys might have two but they’d likely be two of the better ones as it seems like their buyer has good taste. They also sell a limited range of homebrew supplies. I am going to be making this a regular stop.
Mail order review. Wow I think I found the gem of the internet as far as mail orders go. The order process is simple & easy. You send Randy the list of the beers you want with your address & he responds back in a very timely process. In no way are you left in the dark in the process. The prices are very reasonable & so is the shipping. The boxes are packed well, & always come in quicker than I expected(they have a packaging meter on there site that lets you know about how long it will take to ship from that day you order). The Fresh Report is also nice so you can see how fresh the beers are that you are ordering with bottled on dates on there site. This is my access to the Midwest brewers(Bells, Founders, FFF). Oh & by the way Randy is the man.
My order was packed and shipped in a very reasonable amount of time. Arrived in flawless condition. Shipping manager Randy is helpful and friendly. Their selection, while not enormous, has a good number of brews that are not sold in my locale, and the prices (and shipping costs) are reasonable. I would gladly order from them again, if only because I love getting a box of beer in the mail.
Based on an order by placed by email.
I emailed my order following the guidelines at their site. Randy responded to me promptly and let me know what they had in stock of what I wanted, and gave me a realistic ship date. I expected to wait longer than I did, and he shipped when he said he would. The order was well packed and there was no damage to the order.
They had a number beers that I cannot get in Iowa.
Overall a very good transaction and I will be doing business with them again. It sounds like they can get a little back-logged in orders, so keep in mind your order won’t ship the next day unless you have good timing. I have no problem waiting a little longer for beers I can’t get locally.
