Decent food, OK beer, knowledgeable staff. A college bar ambiance, but seems to have a fairly diverse crowd and is family friendly, which I like. They were out of half of the 10 house brews listed when I was there, and it seemed a few tasted a tad sour from hot kegs, but they did give me a sampler flight in plastic cups of the 5 they did have. OK veggie lasagna.
Brewpub north of downtown. They had 8 house beers the night I visited. They don’t have a samper, but you can ask for samples to help you narrow your ultimate beer request. I milked it a bit. In general the beers are pretty good. Didn’t eat here. Pretty representative of the rest of Asheville...very liberal crowd. I didn’t check out the downstairs theater.
Looks like an alien ship crashed into this place. Its a little bit north of the main downtown area, but worth the short drive. Very cool place, great service, amazing pizza and of course their own great beer plus guest taps. You could take hours staring at all of the art on the walls. My personal favorite is the picture of God handing Adam a beer. (lthink the God touching Adam in the famous sistine chapel painting) They even have a movie theater inside that you can bring your brew in with you! A truly unique place and a gem.
This is the coolest place ever! There are so many random pieces of art and other junk on the walls, you could spend a week just looking at it all. Terrific tasting, reasonably priced pizza. The only downside: even though their beers are inexpensive, they are not all that great. Just your average brews. But the theater plus the game room make this place a standard for all the locals. Good luck finding a table, they seem to stay busy all the time. Not a true *beer* destination, but certainly a good time. I cannot wait to go back!
Located in another converted building, with an eclectic mix of brewpub and movie theatre. The interior is slowly being painted, stickered, of laminated so that eventually you won’t know what the original materials were. I sat at the bar and while the service was pretty good and we got an extra glass in my pint, it clearly wasn’t the bartender’s best day. The beer was served in cold glasses, annoyingly, so you have to wait for the porter to warm so I could get some aroma. The have a subscription plan which would be worth it just to get a warm glass. The food was pretty good, my burger was juicy and the fries were pretty good.
I went to Asheville with just one thing on my mind, Breweries. This place was recommended and I loved it. Soccer and Basketball on the TV. And great beers.. I wish I was hungry, the pizza looked great.
Stopped here to try out some local brews while in the area. You get to pick your own flights, which is nice, so you can try exactly what you want For a small place, they have quite a few brews on tap, mostly their own and almost all local. Food is decent, but nothing to speak all that highly of. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.
Very cool place, funky decor, happy and attentive staff. The food is very good and the beer good to pretty good. It’s definitely worth a special trip just for the coolness factor and the relative quality of the food and beer. But, if you can’t make it and are staying int he area, no worries....they will deliver food AND growlers to you! If I lived there I would take much advantage of that.
